Engage, ignite, achieve
Dear Y Friends,

It is a treat to share this month's collection of Y perspectives with you.  You will see that as Y program staff learn more about the Y's international impact, they are inspired to ask us all to join in supporting YMCA programs around the globe.  Volunteers are the heart of the Y.  Claudette helps us see how vital caring and sharing is in building the community of friendship and support we all count on at the Y.  You've heard how the Y's afterschool programs help children be their very best while giving parents the peace of mind their children are safe and thriving while parents focus on the jobs that support their families;  here you have the delight of traveling up close through the eyes of our youth as they take you on a YMCA afterschool program tour, from their perspective.  All of these examples remind us how powerful it is when we meet people where they are and welcome them into the Y family.

Thanks for being part of the Y and seeing the potential when we join together.

Your Change Can Change the World

The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati is joining YMCA’s from around the world in developing a new generation of globally-minded young leaders. Kristi Rohrkasse (senior program director for YMCA City Core) and Mark Bryant (program director for Clermont Family YMCA) have been selected to participate in the Y-USA Emerging Global Leaders Institute; it is a two year commitment that aims to prepare young adult staff as culturally competent, globally responsible leaders as champions of diversity, inclusion and global action to guide, strengthen, and expand the Y’s mission at home and abroad.

It's the People That Make the Y

At 82-years-young, Claudette DeNoma of Springfield Township shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.  In fact, the mother of 6, grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother of 7, seems to thrive on activity.  For 20 years, Claudette has been a faithful volunteer at the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA, making morning coffee four days a week.  “I love it.  I love the people!” she said.  “I enjoy every single friendship I make at the Y, because we’re all just one big happy family.”
