In this edition I have two exciting updates in regard to ongoing property related matters.
The first is that the Borough of Queenscliffe recently issued the Club with a Planning Permit for the new Clubhouse. This is a significant and positive step for the new Clubhouse project and builds on last month's exciting news of the $1.5M State funding. On behalf of the Club, a big well done to Chris Harper and the Building Committee and thanks to PDS Group and Spire for your professional services and assistance. The wonderful team effort ensured that this was a smooth and timely process.
The second is in regard to funding assistance for the HC Windmill Back Beach Base. As I have reported several times, the original (front) section requires demolishing and rebuilding due to concrete cancer. We have been advised that our efforts to secure some State funding for these works have been successful and $ 500 000 has been earmarked for these works. That brings funding of $ 2M from the Victorian Government to the Club for these 2 building projects in recent weeks which is a great news story for the Club.
Online ticket sales for the Annual Presentation Night (Saturday 15th July) at LSV will open soon, so keep an eye out for this.
A reminder that next weekend, (Sat 10 June at 5:30pm) there is a member information and consultation session at the Clubhouse about the proposed new Strategic Plan. More details on our Facebook Page and on your email.
This week our long term Administration Officer Donna Tedoldi finished up with the Club. Donna worked with us in the Office and the Bar for more than 8 years and also helped in a voluntary capacity for many years. We will miss her around the Club and thanks Donna for your contribution.
Sadly we lost former Office staffer Sophie Rome last week after she lost her long battle with illness and we extend our sympathies to Sophie's family and friends.
