During the recent Labour Day long weekend I was delighted to receive donations from two community groups for the new Clubhouse fund.
Following a resolution of the committee of the Point Lonsdale Civic Association (PLCA), their membership endorsed a generous donation in support of this significant community project.
At the meeting it was made very clear of how in need we are to rebuild and how supportive they were of the concept and design.
I had the opportunity to thank President Rob Minty and also the PLCA membership on behalf of the Club for the donation. I also thanked them for the significant assistance they played in lobbying for the transfer of 56 Ocean Road (let's not forget that battle and the team effort to secure it) and the valuable feedback they gave when we undertook community consultation for the final design in 2016.
It was also wonderful to catchup with Grant Wiltshire, President of the Golightly Caravan Park Residents' Association.
Grant presented me with a cheque for the new Clubhouse fund stating how keen they were to make a contribution towards this much needed project.
Numerous members of the Club over the years have stayed at the Caravan Park which is an integral part of the Point Lonsdale community and such an iconic summer holiday!
In coming weeks we will be transitioning internet and phone to the NBN at the Clubhouse site.
We are hopeful that there will be no interruption to internet and phone services, with the final cutover to happen the week after Easter, which should avoid some of our busier days.
You should already have Easter Saturday (31st March) in your diary for the Annual Presentation Night.
I can now confirm that it will be at the Clubhouse and we will have the Bar open, finger food and working on some music - most likely in the Hall.
Tickets will be on sale online (or via Office) and will be priced to encourage all (including kids) to come to the relaxed format evening.
Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter & email for ticket info.
Great work to Charlie and the Life Saving Services team with efforts on patrols in recent weeks, seeing really healthy numbers on patrol - great work everyone and thank you for your help to keep our beach safe in the shoulder season period.
It's not long until the Victorian Senior Lifesaving Titles will be held and we are set to send one of our largest teams for more than 10 years!
For those not travelling to Apollo Bay, let's hope that we can put a selection of pics on Facebook / Twitter.
