Last night we held our "Season Launch" function at Queenscliff and we thanked our patrol captains and vice captains, committee members, life members, sponsors and joined with Sarah Henderson MP, Cr Tony Francis Mayor and other Councillors to start the 16 / 17 Patrol Season.
I was delighted to publicly announce that the Club has been selected to be included in the LSV bid for the next round of State Government funding. If the bid is successful, it will see us eligible for a large funding boost for the project which is a really positive and exciting development. As I said last night, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter ! Those present also received a comprehensive update on a series of developments from our Building Committee Chair Chris Harper.
Next weekend sees the start of the Patrol Season and a mishap on the Back Beach today shows that water activities have increased and it is timely that Patrols are about to recommence. We do have some IRB driver shortfalls in some Patrols, so please help out to avoid any patrol defaults.
70th Anniversary celebrations update - A sub committee has been formed, Sue Doman appointed as Chair and the group have had their first meeting. Please keep the weekend of the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend (2017) free for the celebrations. This is a revised date and coincides with the actual weekend of formation.
Online entries for the 30th RVSC have opened and we would appreciate you letting friends, family and colleagues know to boost the numbers and boost our profits. This is the largest single fundraising effort, so we we need to make it count.
A reminder that Requals (Skills Maintenance) have recommenced for our Active members and more information and dates are on the website. The Training and Assessment team continue to work hard on the Cadet and Bronze Camp, with the added challenge of more applications than places available. Please be patient with your queries as our volunteers do their best to meet the unprecedented demand.
Finally, on Sunday 27th November we are holding the annual pre Summer Working bee. It's a 9am start on Sunday and more details are available on Facebook. We would really appreciate your assistance, for just a few hours.
