February 20, 2018      Finger Lakes Connected
I think my least favorite thing to do in this world is backing up/restoring my cell phone or other maintenance tasks to keep technology going. There is just something about this process that never seems to go smoothly for me. This time, it seems that half my contacts are lost. The zen me says well maybe it was time to clean house? Let them go. The more controlling Donna wants every single contact that I've ever made in my lifetime to be back on my phone. I think I will go with the Universe on this one and just accept that if you were meant to be in my life, your number has been saved or you will text me. Hopefully you will take this message as a hint to please text or email me with your info so I can save you (again). And please don't be offended when you get the infamous "Who is this?" message back? Or just give me enough detail in the text so that I can guess. It has been a very "fun" week doing just that. Maybe this searching the depths of my brain cells to remember past info and tie it to a contact I once had is good Alzheimer's prevention for me? Well, they do say everything happens for a reason....Modern Day problems, right? Our past Presidents are probably laughing at how complicated technology has made our lives, right?

Elizabeth Heffernan at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the chapel just off the main lobby of Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St. Canandaigua. At Thompson, spirituality is defined in the broadest and most universal terms possible- that which gives meaning, purpose, a sense of

In this light, the health system's Spiritual Care program seeks to support each patient, resident, client and loved one in a way that is meaningful and helpful to him or her. Facts for Heart Health Month

February is heart heath month. Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe continues sharing impressive, fun, helpful and maybe even shocking facts about the Heart.
Heart Health Fact # 6- Before the invention of the stethoscope in 1816 a doctor would listen to his patient's heart by placing his ear to the patient's bare chest. A French doctor, who thought this approach was both awkward and of limited clinical value, used a rolled sheet of paper to create an aural tube that led soon thereafter to the stethoscope's invention. (US National Library of Medicine).
Heart Fact # 7 - Love heals?? Research shows married heart surgery patients make better recoveries than single patients. (JAMA Surgery).
Heart Health Fact # 8 - It seems that you really can die of a broken heart. Studies suggest sad news or events may increase the risk of heart attacks. (American Heart Association).
Heart Health Fact # 9 - Your heart pumps blood to 75 TRILLION cells throughout your body. Almost everywhere EXCEPT your cornea. (Molecular Biology of the Cell)
Heart Health Fact #10 - Your heart looks nothing like a Valentine heart. This powerhouse organ is actually shaped more like an upside down pear. (Cleveland Clinic).
Heart Health Fact # 11- Happy Birthday EKG!!! This vital medical instrument was invented 114 years ago and revolutionized the way in which heart problems are detected. (Cleveland Clinic).
Stay tuned for more Heart Health Facts by Canandaigua, The Medicine Shoppe next week.
