At this annual event, Mayor Wild will be leading the groundbreaking for the new baseball diamonds to be constructed at the JBCVC courtesy of  a Michigan Department of Natural Resources grant secured by State Representative, Robert Kosowski.  Mayor Wild will also be highlighting a newly created butterfly garden in the JBCVC library courtyard and will be announcing the City's involvement in a new nationwide program, the Mayor's Monarch Pledge.

"Our first Earth Day Celebration took place in 2009 and was marked by the kick off of the city's successful curbside recycling program," commented Mayor Wild.  "To date 76,650,850 pounds of trash have been recycled from our community and diverted from the landfill."

Mayor Wild will be presenting the coveted Mission:Green Eco-Award to Westland based Simple Recycling for their curbside clothing recycling program, Wayne Metro Community Action for their employees' work on creating the new butterfly garden at the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center and one surprise recipient.
