Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location.

Westland City Council
  • There will be a special meeting of  the Westland City Council on Monday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the approval of the Brownfield Plan for certain parcels of land at or near 36601 Ford Road.  To see the meeting agenda, please click here.

Mornings with the Mayor -  Westland Mayor William R. Wild cordially invites you to his monthly "Mornings with the Mayor."  Join Mayor Wild over a cup of coffee from 9 - 10 a.m. on  Tuesday, December 8  at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.    This is your opportunity to bring up matters of importance to you regarding City services or programs and events.  These monthly meetings have been a hit with residents offering a number of ideas to improve services, some which are being considered.  Do you have an idea to share?   In honor of the holiday season, the Mayor will be raffling off  $25 gift cards to local business, Westland Car Care.  All you need to do to be entered into the raffle is come to the "Mornings with the Mayor" event on  December 8  and bring a non-perishable food item, unwrapped toy, or small monetary donation for the Westland Goodfellows.  Your entry into the raffle is your donation.  The City of Westland will be accepting donations for the Westland Goodfellows all holiday season.  Donation boxes will be in the lobby.   Coffee, water and holiday cookies are provided during this one hour event.  Together, let's make Westland all it can be. 

Holiday Sing-a-Long - Santa will be at the Westland Library on Tuesday, December 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Kids of all ages are invited to join in the fun in the Children's Garden .  There will be a Christmas Carol sing-a-long, cookies and hot cocoa, Christmas crafts, and of course a chance to visit with Santa.  The Library will also be holding free Holiday music concerts every Sunday afternoon at 2pm.  This is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit, or take a break from your Holiday shopping.  The Library is located at 6123 Cental City Parkway.

Westland Community Foundation Christmas Reception - The Westland Community Foundation is holding their annual Christmas Reception on Tuesday, December 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  There will be refreshments and Hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Tony and the culinary students of the William D. Ford Career Technical Center.  The cost for this event is 2 unwrapped new toys as a donation for the children of the Westland Salvation Army.  Please don't forget about the teenagers!  


Wayne County Lightfest -  The Wayne County Lightfest is now open and will be open  through December 31 from 7-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.  Visitors enter Lightfest at Hines Drive and Merriman Road in Westland and exit onto Warren Avenue dear Telegraph.  The address for the Lightfest is 7651 Merriman Road in Westland.  The fee is $5 per vehicle to enter.  Lightfest features more than 47 giant animated holiday themed displays. Don't forget to visit Santa's Workshop at Warrendale Park at the end of the Lightfest drive.  
 

Friday Night Glow Skate -  The Mike Modano Ice Arena has re-opened for the season and Friday Night Glow Skate is back.  Glow skate will run every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. and will cost $8 for kids and $9 for adults for residents.  The cost is 50 cents more for non-resident.  One glow in the dark accessory will be given will the purchase of admittance to glow skate.  The Ice Arena is located at 6210 Wildwood.
