Westland City Council Approves New Upscale Residential Development

Westland, MI -- On Monday, April 18 at the meeting of the Westland City Council, the council approved a proposed site plan for the new Nankin Mills Subdivision.  The property is located at the north side of Ann Arbor Trail, at Hubbard Road, West of Merriman Road.  The property is the former site of Nankin Mills Elementary School and comprises 7.39 acres.

The developer, Amson Development, is proposing a 31-lot subdivision which will contain city streets, concrete sidewalks, street lighting and street trees, as required for all residential development.

Amson Development proposes to construct 3 models of single-family homes in this subdivision.  The first is a 2,270 square foot, 4-bedroom colonial, the second is a 2,395 square foot 3-bedroom colonial and the third is a 2,527 square foot, 4-bedroom colonial.  All homes will be constructed with a brick exterior on all four sides to the top of the first floor.

The development will also contain a storm water detention pond at the east end of the site on the adjacent Livonia Public Schools property.  A 24-square foot monument identification sign will be places at each entrance of the subdivision.

"The demand for new, upscale homes in Westland is really starting to take off following Westland's recognition by Wall Street 24/7 as one of the top 50 communities for young families," commented Mayor Wild.  "New families are really attracted by Westland's schools and high quality affordable living lifestyle."
