Westland Hold Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Garden
 

Westland, MI - The Westland Veterans Association proudly announces their Veterans Day  Ceremony will be held at the "Veterans Memorial Garden of Westland". The  Ceremony will begin at 2:00 P.M., Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11 . The memorial garden is behind the Westland Public Library,  located at 6123 Central City Parkway. 

Dedicated in 2013, the memorial is a culmination of over six years of planning and fundraising. The focal point is a center monument, consisting of ten granite panels which will have engraving noting twelve wars our country has been involved in. In addition there is a "Walk of History" that consists of twelve coves that feature a monument explaining the history of each war depicted on the center panels. There is also be a special cove honoring our Prisoner of Wars and Missing in Action.

 

This year's ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor William R. Wild, Marine Veteran State Senator David Knezek and a Vietnam Veteran Purple Heart recipient guest speaker.  There will also be a rose ceremony recognizing the 50th anniversary of The Vietnam War.
