May 19, 2016, Mechanicsburg, PA - The Keystone Musical Arts Center (KMAC) has announced their summer classes for 2016. These activities will occur in and around Mechanicsburg while funds are being raised for construction of a permanent location planned for Hampden Township. With the school year ending soon, several KMAC teachers will have openings for individual instruction due to graduations and summer breaks. The final spring recitals are happening this month with a larger event in the works for this fall.

 
The Vocal Blueprint
This seminar is an amazing and ESSENTIAL opportunity for any vocalist who wants a PRECISE framework to build a voice for anything from opera to screamo and even public speaking. Come to the seminar, devour the concepts, run with them, and find your VOICE.

Beginner Piano Classes
This is hands-on learning from the start as everyone has their own keyboard to use in class. By the end of the 6-week session, participants will have a basic understanding of the keyboard and introductory music theory. Youth students will be able to play simple melodies one hand at a time; older children and adults will be able to play a simple melody with basic accompaniment.
  When:           Friday, June 24 at 4:00 PM - Free introductory class
                      Fridays, July 8, 15, 22 & 29; August 12 & 19
  3:00 PM class for ages 6 - 10
  4:10 PM class for ages 11+ (adults welcome)

Some KMAC teachers will have availability for private lessons on various instruments and voice due to changeovers at this time of year.  Since these spots can fill up quickly, it is advisable to contact the school or the teacher directly to schedule a consultation or lock in a time soon.  Instructors who currently have openings starting in June are:

A recital for younger students of Andrey Lubimtsev was held last Sunday (5/15) at the St. Lawrence Chapel in Harrisburg ( photo).  Judy Killian's students ages 5 - 18 will participate in a recital this Sunday (5/22) at First Church of the Nazarene in New Cumberland.  A recital open to students of all KMAC teachers is being planned for this fall.
 
 
Phase 2 of the capital campaign to raise funds for build-out and start-up of the Keystone Musical Arts Center will kick off after Memorial Day.  These proceeds will allow KMAC to realize its mission of expanding musical instruction and adding music therapy services which are in great need on the West Shore.  Some basic information is already on the web at KeystoneMusicalArtsCenter.org (click on the "Support" tab).
