Seniors in Niles, MI senior citizens reap the benefits of the Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition

I Can Do It, You Can Do It! Americans with Disabilities Grant Awarded

South Bend, IN May, 19 2017:
Starting May 25th in Niles, Michigan
JLynn Cloud & Associates LLC, C2 Your Health LLC, Riveridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center and Brentwood in Niles are
partnering with the I Can Do It, You Can Do It! (ICDI) from the Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition one of the President's Challenge Programs to help encourage children and adults with disabilities to be physically active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Once a week for 12 weeks, seniors in the Niles, Michigan community 50 seniors and 50 mentors will experience
nutrition and fitness classes including chair fitness, light dancing and healthy eating classes utilizing the
Juice Plus+ Tower Garden
to watch vegetables grow then harvest their healthy snacks from May 25 - Aug 10th, 2017.

Open enrollment began in April for the lucky 100 to join one of these two free 6 week sessions designed for seniors and their families.

About the I Can Do It, You Can Do It! Program
ICDI
is a mentoring program
that uses an individualized approach to encourage regular physical activity and healthy eating behavior for children and adults with disabilities. K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and community-based entities such as faith-based organizations, rehabilitation facilities, and community health centers provide the eight-week health promotion program in which mentors and mentees meet on a weekly basis to participate in physical, sport, recreation, and/or healthy eating activities. Mentors and mentees work together to set activity and healthy eating goals, and earn recognition for their efforts using the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award Plus (PALA+). The President's Challenge is the premier program of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition administered through a co-sponsorship agreement with the Amateur Athletic Union.
