MISSOURI CITY, TX
(April 14, 2016) -- In response to the negative smears disseminated in a
by House District 27 opponent, Angelique Bartholomew, Rep. Reynolds issued the following statement:
"My faith has taught me to, 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.' Also, my grandmother once told me that, 'Those who live in a glass house shouldn't throw rocks.' I have always lived by these principles and have never chosen to run a negative campaign."
"I'm a lifelong Democrat and currently serve as the House Democratic Whip. I have never said one negative remark about my opponent, Angelique Bartholomew. However, she has chosen to run a negative smear campaign against me despite the fact that she is the former First Vice President of the Fort Bend County Republican Women PAC and voted in the Republican primary to support Rick Perry.
"Angelique Bartholomew mentions civil lawsuits against me in her press release, while glossing over the fact that she filed multiple bankruptcies to cheat her creditors from getting paid when she was sued.
"Additionally, Angelique Bartholomew talks about my ethics while failing to mention she falsely held herself out as an attorney when she never passed the bar exam, and attended an unaccredited law school in Alabama.
"I reject the Donald Trump-style negative politics by Angelique Bartholomew."
