"Red-Out" Dress Down for SPORK on April 7

April 7 is a "red-out" fundraiser for Team SPORK and their trip to international competition in Houston, Texas. Students are invited to wear a red shirt and non-uniform bottoms that meet school guidelines for a $5 donation. 

Breaking News: Team SPORK, with their 2nd place finish at State competition at Campbell University this weekend, is now FIRST in North Carolina as they head to Worlds in just weeks. 

New PLP Blog

Upper School Spanish Department's 1st Annual...

Pine Lake's first annual El Carnaval is taking place Wednesday April 26th from 10 o'clock AM to 1 o'clock PM on the green turf at the Pine Lake campus. There will be food, salsa/tango instructors, music, and activities throughout the event. This event is open to all Pine Lake Preparatory students and staff free admission. Tacos and burritos will be available for preorder!

Carnaval is a family fun celebration where Pine Lake students can enjoy the various cultures we love and enjoy representing. Tango instructors will give free sessions teaching all who partake the fun of tango dancing.

Robin Cochrane Selected for Governor's School

Pine Lake Preparatory is pleased to announce that Robin Cochrane has been selected to attend the 2017 Governor's School. Robin was selected to participate in the Spanish program. 
"I am extremely proud of Robin on being selected to join Governor's School for Spanish. What an honor for me to have nominated her," said Ileana Gonzalez, Robin's Spanish IV Honors teacher at PLP.  "From our time in Spain a couple of years ago, to having her in class working so diligently in learning the language, and now about to embark on such a great experience this summer, I know Robin will continue to excel in all she sets her mind to do. ¬°Felicitaciones Robin!"

Middle School Focus: Ana Kisley

Meet Ana Kisley: 8th Grade student, violin player, swimmer, and frequent Science Olympiad and Spelling Bee champ...

Ana is a strong contributor to the Middle School Science Olympiad team, and at their recent regional event, collected first place awards in the categories of anatomy and astronomy; and third place awards in hovercraft and microbe mission. Ana partnered with Tieran Sullivan for the Anatomy & Physiology competition; and Alexandra Costello for the Reach for the Stars event. 

The teams will compete at the state competition in a few short weeks. They will be joined by Sruthi Anil and Sriya Mannepalli, who won regionals in the "Write It, Do It" competition. 

Together, the team, which is coached by Ms. Paige Morgan, placed in the top 5 out of 20 teams at regionals and are currently preparing for state competition.

 " Ana a very dedicated member of the PLP Middle School Science Olympiad team and has been for the last three years.  Her love for science really shines through when she is preparing her her events."

"Science Olympiad has events in many areas of science that span from building a hovercraft to studying programming to figuring out a crime.  Anyone can most likely find an event that interests them," Ana said. 

Ana has also represented PLP at regional spelling bees three out of the last four years.  When she's not studying for her Science Olympiad topics, Ana is a year round swimmer with Sailfish, and enjoys playing violin. 

Her favorite classes and Science and Orchestra. Ana says she could see herself in a career in science. 

"Ana is truly a team player when helping other prepare for their events and filling in when asked.  I will miss her contagious smile and laughter next year and she moves to the upper school.   I know she will keep rocking the Science Olympiad world in the next four years," Ms. Morgan said.

Intersection: Middle School Play Wraps
Congrats to the cast, crew, AND writers and directors of "Intersection: The Musical" which wrapped this weekend.

The musical was written by 7th grade students Sydney Loebach, Audrey Hochman and Ella Hughes and music was written by Sydney Loebach and Audrey Hochman. It was directed by 8th grade student Dane Chilton, assisted by 7th grade student Asher Ostrowski. 

While this was a student-produced endeavor, it could not have happened without Mrs. Leluika and Mrs. York, who volunteered to be faculty advisors, who stayed after school to provide support and oversight. 

What a great opportunity for these budding writers, producers and actors - thanks to all who came out to support them! 

Putt for Pride Registration Open!

Register your golf foursome, or sign up as an individual to golf, or reserve a corporate sponsorship at the 2017 Putt for Pride Golf Tournament, which will be held Monday, May 8th at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius.

The Golf Tournament is a PLP tradition. A time for parents, friends, business associates and others to enjoy a day of golf at the scenic Peninsula Club, while supporting a PLP fundraising event. The Ladies Luncheon is an event that brings together mothers, grandmothers and other friends of PLP for a delicious lunch, speaker, and raffle items to bid on. 

We will also be looking for items to be donated to the online auction, which is held the week before the Golf Tournament and Ladies Luncheon. Campus Cleaned Up! 

More than 60 students and family members showed up Saturday to paint the Celebration Fence, pressure wash sidewalks, mulch around shrubs, replace amphitheater stones, pick up trash, and improve our campus for the NJHS Spring Clean Up. 

MANY thanks to all who came to give back to PLP with their time, enthusiasm and hard work. The campus is more beautiful because of you!
