Summer Update from Pine Lake Preparatory



STEM Building and Auditorium Ribbon Cutting

Save the date! The ribbon cutting to mark the grand opening of the newest campus resource will be Saturday, August 20th at 10 a.m. You don't want to miss this first look at the building that blends the best educational opportunities that Pine Lake has to offer for our students: space for students to make scientific discoveries in the laboratories as well as a stage to stretch their creative limits in the adjacent auditorium. More details to come!

Come tour the state of the art building and see Pine Lake student performers as they take the stage for the first time.

Orientation/Meet the Teacher Dates
 
** The Upper School Is hosting an orientation for all Freshman and new families on Wednesday, August 17th. They will host an open house at a date TBA in September, to give teachers and students time to become familiar with class curricula and expectations. 


Open Houses (with the exception of 6th Grade, see above chart) are informal opportunities to meet your student's teacher and familiarize them with the class locations. 

The Lower School will host more formal Curriculum Nights in September for a more in-depth discussion about the focus of classroom instruction. 

Lower School Curriculum Nights

Monday, September 12: Grades K, 3, and 4
Grade 3: 5:00 p.m.- 5:45 p.m. in the new Auditorium   
Grade 4: 6:15 p.m. - 7 p.m., Auditorium, 
Kindergarten will be held 7:30 - 8:15 p.m. in the Kindergarten classrooms at the Lower School 

Tuesday, September 13: Grades 1, 2 and 5
Grade 5:   5:00-5:45 p.m., Auditorium
Grade 2:   6:15-7:00 p.m., Auditorium
Grade 1:   7:30-8:15 p.m., Auditorium




NEW FAMILIES Meet and Greet 

PLP New Families: 

You are invited to join us for a brief presentation to learn more about: Pine Lake Prep's history, how a charter school operates, the role of the Board of Directors, and how to get involved with various volunteer organizations on campus (PTO and Boosters), and to answer your questions. 
Two sessions will be offered:
  • Monday, August 15 at 5 p.m. in the Lower School Music Room (childcare offered in the Art Room across the hall).
  • Wednesday, August 17 at 10 a.m. in the Upper School Seminar Room 
Please sign up for a spot so we can plan how many seats are needed, and how many upper school students are needed for child care. We look forward to meeting you! 



Uniforms Vendor

If you need to order uniforms such as PE gear, our local vendor, Lake Norman Screenprinting, can turn orders around in the same week - orders placed by Monday, August 15 will be delivered by Friday, August 19th. PE uniforms are required for all students in Grades 3 and higher who are taking Physical Education.

Parking on Campus

Please be advised that all parking spots have been numbered and have been - or will be- assigned to staff and students. If you are volunteering on campus, please park in designated areas only or you may park in the inner lane outside of the hours of carline. 



Friday Night Lights Start TONIGHT

Join us for the first home football scrimmage at "The Grey", Pine Lake's athletic complex located at 203 Lion's Den Trail in Mooresville. 

PTO August Activities



School is about to start and the PTO is in full swing planning events and fundraisers to raise funds for PLP. We hope you will be able to join us at PTO's August events:
 


USED UNIFORM SALE
 
- When: Tues., Aug. 16, 2pm-4pm

- Where: ACC Lobby
- Cost: All current inventory will be sold at $5 per item. We will be accepting cash and checks.
- Fundraiser: 100% of these funds will be used for Campus Improvement Gifts
- Registration: No registration needed. Just show up!
- Donations accepted: If you have any uniform pieces to donate, please drop off at any school building lobby. 
 
 


PRIDE NIGHT AT 5 GUYS Burgers and Fries 
- When: Mon., Aug. 29, 5pm-8pm - Where: 5 Guys in Mooresville (Hwy 150)
- How it Works: Tell your server that you are with PLP, and 5 Guys will donate 20% to PLP.
- Fundraiser: 100% of these funds will be used for Teacher Appreciation
- Registration: No registration needed. Just show up!

After School Care

AFTER3@PLP is an  on-site after school program  providing traditional and innovative Extended Day programming  for students.  The program will be open to all K-8th Grade students at Pine Lake Preparatory on a first come, first served basis.  Find more information and registration information at the link below:
