IN PGC SUD SYNERGY, LOCAL BREWERY TAPPED FOR MGM DRAFT PLAN
Calvert Brewing Company's crafty "Route 4 IPA" will flow at the new resort & casino...
It's alway great to see synergy between PGC assets. Among the many great craft beers that will be avail at the new MGM National Harbor, one is brewed here, in PGC. The Calvert Brewing Company, which has its brewery in Upper Marlboro, will supply its flavorful "Route 4 IPA" to MGM's craft beer kingdom, The Tap Room.

Route 4 IPA is a golden amber beer described by CBC as restrained, balanced and easy-drinking. It's aroma and tasting notes include pine, grapefruit, tropical fruits, and peach.

So, what combo brings out the best in Route 4 IPA? According the "brewsters" at CBC, it pairs well with hard cheeses, grilled meat, and carrot cake - yes, you read that correctly.

COULD IT BE, UNDER THE HOLIDAY TREE, A READERS' CHOICE AWARD FOR PGC
Prince George's voted a SportsEvents Magazine 2017 Readers' Choice Award recipient...
No shade on this election folks. Votes in, recount unnecessary - supporting the fact that Prince George's County is a world-class destination for youth, amateur, collegiate and professional sports.

This month, the Prince George's County CVB  received  a 2017 Readers' Choice Award from SportsEvents Magazine, for outstanding venues and services.

Sports event professionals were asked to nominate destinations and sports venues that they believe display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward the groups they host. Nominations were received from readers throughout the year, and the top picks were selected based on results from an online voting system.

All RCA winning destinations and venues (which includes Prince George's) will be featured in the January 2017 "SportsEvents Annual Awards Issue: Sports Planners & Places to Watch". Thank you to all our extraordinary venues, friends, and associates for the tremendous support!

PGC AWARDED "BEST WEBSITE" FROM MARYLAND TOURISM COUNCIL
CVB receives award at annual Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit...
At the 2016 Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit last month, Prince George's County tourism walked away with some unexpected hardware.

The Prince George's CVB and  ExperiencePGC.com were honored with the BEST WEBSITE 2016 award from the Maryland Tourism Coalition. The site, which contains an abundance of info about PGC attractions, events, historic sites & museums, hotels, dining, and much more has evolved dramatically within the last year. And, more is to come as the site continues to improve and position itself as a beacon for Prince George's.  Pictured are the CVB's Carl Smith, Ngina Jackson and Matt Neitzey.

MARK YOUR '17 CALENDAR - SUMMIT COMING TO PGC:  The Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit will be returning to Prince George's in 2017. It will be held at THE HOTEL at UMD in College Park, November 8-10. THE HOTEL, which opens July 2017, is the next grand addition in the glowing portfolio of Prince George's County hospitality. Featuring 297 guestrooms, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, scenic terrace, fine dining such as Old Maryland Grill and Kaphos Taverna by Mike Isabella, and over 43k sqft of meeting and exhibit space.

ONE CUP AT A TIME: VIGILANTE PREPS FOR COFFEECHAMPS CHALLENGE NEXT MONTH
A team from the coffee shop will take its talents to Knoxville in big prelim competition...
In addition to roasting and supplying some of the finest coffee and blends in the entire region, Hyattsville's Vigilante Coffee Company is also known for its ability to pitch and pour a mean cup of Joe.

So, for weeks, the staff at Vigilante has been on the grind preparing for the annual CoffeeChamps competition in Knoxville, TN, January 21-22.

Staff will compete in the Barista Competition (Chris Vigilante, Austin Redington), Brewers Cup Competition (Sebastian Lima), and Roasters Competition (Chris Vigilante).

This will be Team Vigilante's first time competing at CoffeeChamps, so we wish them luck. If successful at CoffeeChamps, winners will be able to compete in the Holy Grail of coffee culture - the U.S. Coffee Championships in Seattle, WA, April 21-23.

NEW HOTEL PROPOSED FOR EXPANDING RETAIL DISTRICT IN CAP HEIGHTS
120-room prop in the mix for Ritchie Station Marketplace...
The ever-growing Ritchie Station Marketplace (RSM) has been a beacon for redevelopment in the Capitol Heights corridor.

In the pipeline is a 120-room hotel and a possible "Olive Garden" restaurant. Not a complete surprise based on its prime location.

RSM is situated on the Capital Beltway (I-495/95), off of Ritchie Marlboro Road at Exit 13. It is centrally located and just five miles east of the DC border.

According to estimates, upwards of a quarter million cars pass the site daily. So, it makes sense that a hotel (and additional dines) are being pitched for the site that already includes a variety of retail, BJ's Wholesale Club, Pohanka Automotive, several fast-casual dines, and PGC's first Dave & Buster's.

SJP'S "SEX IN THE CITY" FASHION SENSE HAS FOUND A HOME AT NATIONAL HARBOR
Sarah Jessica Parker to open first stand-alone fashion boutique at the new MGM National Harbor...
MGM National Harbor opens December 8 and the unique retail offerings it will present are still somewhat of a mystery. Aside from mention of Louis Vuitton, they've been rather mum.

But, what we do know is MGM is playing to win.  First serve is convincing "Sex In The City" star Sarah Jessica Parker to bring her fashion sense harborside. SJP, her shoes, dresses, handbags, fragrances & accessories brand, will open its very first storefront at MGM on December 9.

Introduced just two years ago, SJP shoes are carried at finer stores like Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's. Going boutique with select offerings only avail at the MGM store is a major move for Parker (and MGM). This is the literal "jump off" with a second location under consideration for NYC. And, it would not be surprising, based on the relationship cultivated, for SJP to birth a Vegas sibling within the MGM portfolio.

FROM SQUARE PEG TO FASHIONISTA: We're getting old(er). We remember little Ms. Jessica in her first true TV series in '82. She co-starred as an awkward, goofy teen in "Square Pegs", a short-lived CBS sitcom. Square Pegs was a humorous take on what its like to be driftwood (in a sea of popular kids) - as she and her bestie desperately try to fit in (braces and all) at fictitious Weemawee High.
