The Film
Oscar®-winning director Louie Psihoyos (THE COVE) assembles a team of artists and activists on an undercover operation to expose the hidden world of endangered species and the race to protect them against mass extinction. Spanning the globe to infiltrate the world's most dangerous black markets and using high tech tactics to document the link between carbon emissions and species extinction, Racing Extinction reveals stunning, never-before seen images that truly change the way we see the world.

Panel Discussion
Bill Selby , retired Geography and Earth Science Professor at Santa Monica College, will moderate a panel discussion after the screening.

The panel will include:
Heather Rally, Wildlife Veterinarian and undercover operative featured in Racing Extinction, Cris Gutierrez, Co-Chair Climate Action Santa Monica and Cindy Hardin, Director of Outreach and Education at Los Angeles Audubon.
Prize Drawing
Four (4) adult tickets to the Natural History Museum Los Angeles and/or La Brea Tar Pits Museum. The mission of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is to inspire wonder, discovery and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds.

Zero Waste Event
Enjoy the concessions, but when finished, please discard in a sustainable manner to minimize waste...ideally ZERO! 

You can do this by discarding items at the Zero Waste stations we'll have at the theatre. Sustainable Works staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you sort and place materials into the correct Compostable, Recyclable and Landfill bins at these stations. 

Bring a reusable water bottle! 
Water will be provided by the City of Santa Monica.
Racing Extinction is presented by the City of Santa Monica's Office of Sustainability of the Environment along with Sustainable Works and American Cinematheque.
