Snooze at the Zoo- 
You'll enjoy a tailored program led by zoo staff ( including a zoo tour in the dark), interacting with some animals, exploring the zoo on your own and interactive games on your quest for the badge of your choice! Suggested badges include, Bugs, Animal Habitats, Animal Helpers, Voice for Animals, & others can be accommodated with advanced notice. Their calendar fills up fast, so plan your evening now! Cost is $45 per particip ant for Boise residents and Friends of Zoo Boise annual pass holders, $50 for all others.

Scout Guided Program- 
Explore your interests and learn new skills while you participate in games, meet our animals and make a difference. Cost is $5 per scout and $2.50 for adult chaperones.
 
Give to Girl Scouts While You Shop  
There are two easy ways to give back to back to Girl Scouts this holiday season through the Fred Meyer Community Rewards Program and AmazonSmile. If you have any questions about these programs,  please call Sasa Milo at (208) 377-2011, ext. 127.  
Fred Meyer customers can support Girl Scouts of Silver Sage by enrolling or re-enrolling in the Fred Meyer Community Rewards Program. A percentage of every purchase will be donated to us with no cost to you!

What's Happening in STEM?
 Boise State University- Engineering and Science Festival
This is a FREE event for all ages that has a variety of engaging activities  designed for K-12 and their families.  Girl Scouts who attend in uniform will receive a passport of activities to do and a 3D printed pin at the check in area! Meridian unBound- Make Your Own Video Game 
Is your Junior working on the Entertainment Technology badge, or is your Girl Scout interested in how video games are made? Check out our community partner, Meridian unBound, and their new Make Your Own Game Workshop! This is a 2-part workshop that will repeat monthly. 2017 Chuck McLane Scholarship
Provided by the Arconic Foundation (formerly Alcoa Foundation), the Chuck McLane Scholarship is a $10,000 college scholarship awarded to two Girl Scout Gold Award recipients whose projects involved science, technology, engineering, and/or math (STEM). 2017 KMPG Future Leaders Program
This program affords top female high school seniors, selected by the Office of Condoleezza Rice, the opportunity to enhance their personal growth through college scholarships ($10,000), a leadership development retreat at Stanford University, a mentor for one year, and an introduction to golf. Applicant criteria includes:  planning to enroll into a 4-year undergraduate program, minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, and interest in business/STEM academic track. Application due Jan 30.

Happening in the Community
Scout Saturday at the World Center for Birds of Prey
On  January 28,  scout-specific scavenger hunts will  be available for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts. Scouts and leaders in uniform will receive a $3 admission rate.
 

Idaho Steelheads Girl Scout Game Night
On February 3, go cheer on the Idaho Steelheads  as they play the Utah Grizzlies ! 2017 Girl's Choice Badges
For the third year in a row, girls will have the opportunity to cast their votes to tell GSUSA which badges they want to earn, and what they want those badges to look like. The first round of polling will take place from Jan 11-Jan 22, the link is not live yet, but you will be able to access it here once the survey opens! 
Volunteer Awards for Annual Conference 2017
 Adult Awards will be presented this spring at the Annual Conference Awards Luncheon and at Service Unit celebrations. Please help us recognize outstanding volunteers who play a special role in the lives of our girls by submitting a  Nomination or Letter in Support !   The process is easy, and requires only two questions:  What has this volunteer done, and why was it exceptional?

Volunteers needed for Jubilation 2018
Jubilation is a tri-annual, volunteer driven, council supported encampment since 2000. Jubilation 2018 may seem far away, but it is right around the corner for planning! They are looking for volunteers to help plan the event. You don't have to be a leader to help - parents, friends or acquaintances can help with this event. You just need to be an approved volunteer and support the Girl Scout Mission.
