Volunteer Opportunity at the Fair!
September 1st- 9th
Come help Girl Scouts Grow at the Eastern Idaho State Fair on Friday, September 1st to Saturday, September 9th.  We love to have Girl Scouts, both young and old,  come share your stories and experiences with girls and adults who are interested in learning more about us! Girls will be able to earn Community Service hours or Service to Girl Scouting hours for the time they attend. This is not a drop off, one parent must be present.

The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls
Have you attended one of their Art for Scouts classes yet? At only $2 per scout, it is a great deal and a fun opportunity! Tours include a guided exhibit exploration and hands-on art lesson with a museum art instructor. Pre-registration is required, click here for more info to sign up for the next one on August 1st! 
Fall Product Trainings
Girl Scouts of Silver Sage will be hosting a Fall Product Program September 29 - October 15, 2017. During the sale, Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to sell nuts & candy and online sales of magazine subscription items to raise troop funds and earn awesome rewards.Join us for Fall Product Training! Service Unit and Troop Volunteers are invited to these Council led trainings to learn all about the Fall Product Program:

Super Saturdays Coming This Fall!
We hope our volunteers will join us for an exciting day of fun, networking and camaraderie while they participate in learning opportunities that will enhance their skills and knowledge and assist them in building girls of courage, confidence and character.  This event is a great chance for leaders to do something for themselves while still impacting their work with girls.  Not a troop leader?  No problem.  This is a great event for any adult in Girl Scouts to receive enrichment training and learn something new.

The Great American Eclipse

Are you "totally" prepared for the Total Solar Eclipse on  August 21, 2017?!
GSUSA Eclipse Box Activity Guide & Kit
Developed in partnership with NASA and other organizations, the guide supports activities for learning about the Sun, light, our solar system, and eclipses. They draw upon hands-on, safe activities suitable for girls as well as adults. While these activities are designed to help girls prepare for the total eclipse of the Sun in 2017, they can be used beyond the eclipse as part of your Girl Scout programs.  See the  Eclipse Activity Guide here , or check out the  activity reference cards ! (A limited supply of kits containing materials needed to do the Eclipse Box activities will be available through the store).

Girl Scout Solar Day
Wednesday, August 9th 
Enjoy free admission from 1:30pm-3:30pm during the "Summer Solar Session" and discounted ticket prices for the planetarium show, "Eclipse: The Sun Revealed". Show is will be only $3 for Girl Scouts and leaders in uniform, and the first 25 to buy tickets after 1:30pm, will receive a free pair of solar eclipse glasses! For more information, click here

New Journeys & Badges!
New Journeys and badges are rolling out this summer. and we want you to be among the first to get the exciting details. Keep an eye out for more information and make sure to visit the VTK, but here's a sneak peak of what's coming your way:
STEM JOURNEYS
Engineering | Think Like an Engineer:
Girls learn how to think like a designer by participating in hands on design challenges.
Computer Science | Think Like a Programmer:
Girls participate in interactive computational thinking activities to learn how programmers solve problems.
Outdoor STEM | Think Like a Citizen Scientist:
Girls learn the scientific method by undertaking a citizen science project that involves making observations, collecting data, and working with scientists.
STEM Badges
Engineering | Robotics:
Girls design their own robots after learning how they're built and programmed. "Unplugged" activities allow girls to earn badges without buying kits.
Engineering | Mechanical Engineering:
Girls complete hands on engineering activities, such as building and testing roller coasters, race cars, and jumping robots.

Lost & Found Items
  As our camp season comes to an end, we would like to make sure camp counselors are not left with camper's lost and found! If your camper is missing anything from their days at camp, please email a detailed description to camp@girlscouts-ssc.org. For those campers in the Treasure Valley you will need to come in to the council office to pick them up. If you're from out of town, you will need to cover the cost of shipping or make other arrangements to pick up your items. All lost & found items will be donated in the fall.

On Belay! Conquer the climbing wall with our friends from Pocatello Parks and Recreation with your sister Girl Scouts. This event is for Brownies and older. Outdoor Journey: Anchored by the Troop Camping badge, this new Journey will deepen girls' outdoor skills through badges that lead to a Take Action project and inspire girls to take and interest in environmental stewardship.
Girls' Choice, Troop Camping Badges: This year, girls from across the United States had the change to vote for their badge category and topic. And the winner is...Troop Camping!

GSSSC will be offering "Girl Track" at Super Saturdays again this year with activities focused on STEM & Outdoors. More information and registration coming soon!

Jubilation 2018
Save the Date & Theme Reveal!
Jubilation is a tri-annual, volunteer-driven, council-sponsored troop camping event. It is the largest girl event in Silver Sage council, where girls and adults camp together and enjoy a weekend of exciting programs, ceremonies, and fun! Jubilation 2018 will be June 8-10 at Filer Fairgrounds and the theme will be "Make Your Dreams Possible"!
Teen Advisory Committee (TAC)
TAC gives Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors the opportunity to serve as the council's voice for all girls in Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council. Through girl-led activities, the committee will enrich the lives of girls through possible leadership projects, mentorship and living by the Girl Scout Law.  By lending a voice to a movement that wants, needs, and values girl-led contributions, these young leaders will play a significant role in shaping the ongoing work of Girl Scouts. The objective of the Teen Advisory Committee (TAC) shall be to represent the council girl membership interests in council programming and the recruitment and retention efforts.
