Dear Fellow Residents,
With the elections now behind us, it is time to move forward.
This election has been tough on many of us. On all sides, people are frustrated and many are afraid. However, we must not forget a founding principle that this country has practiced throughout its history: the basis that progress comes from unity, not division.
As one of the most diverse and progressive communities in the nation, we must refuse to take a step backwards. Threats have been made against and real fears are being felt today by members of our Muslim, LGBTQ, immigrant, environmental and women's rights communities. I believe Silicon Valley has demonstrated for years how people of different beliefs, ethnicities, religions, gender and sexual orientation can live together in a peaceful and thriving community. As an elected leader representing each and everyone one of you, I make a commitment to fight against any policies that threaten the diversity and inclusivity of our community.
This is a time for action, but it is also a time for empathy and solidarity. Regardless of our beliefs, we must always remember that violence is never the answer. I will stand with you against any acts of sexism, homophobia or racism that threaten our way of life, but keep in mind that our voice is always louder when expressing our first amendment right peacefully. Our non-violent message must be genuine and clear; hate will NOT be tolerated.
I hope our community will join us as we continue to work towards what our Nation, State and City celebrate: prosperity and advancement for everyone, and liberty and justice for ALL.
Let's continue to work towards a better and brighter future together in unity.

Con el paso de las elecciones, debemos de mirar hacia el futuro.
Esta elección ha sido difícil para todos. En ambos lados del pasillo, hay miedo y frustración, pero no debemos de olvidar el principio fundamental que este país ha practicado a lo largo de su historia: la base del progreso proviene de la unidad, no de la división.
Como una de las comunidades más diversas y progresivas de la Nación, debemos negarnos a dar un paso hacia atrás. Se han hecho amenazas a miembros de nuestras comunidades musulmanas, LGBTQ, inmigrantes, y miembros de grupos ambientales y de derechos de las mujeres están sintiendo temores reales. Por muchos años, el Valle del Silicio ha demostrado las maneras en que las personas de diferentes creencias, etnias, religiones, género y orientación sexual pueden vivir juntos en harmonía y prosperidad, y como funcionario electo que representa a cada uno de ustedes, me comprometo a luchar contra cualquier política que amenace la diversidad e inclusividad de nuestra comunidad.
Este es un momento de acción, pero también de empatía y solidaridad. Independientemente de nuestras creencias, siempre debemos recordar que la violencia nunca es la respuesta. Yo estaré junto a ustedes contra cualquier acto de sexismo, homofobia o racismo que amenace nuestro estilo de vida, pero tengan en cuenta que nuestra voz siempre es más fuerte al expresar nuestros derechos de manera pacífica. Nuestro mensaje no violento debe ser genuino y claro, el odio NO será tolerado.
Espero que nuestra comunidad trabaje junto con nosotros mientras seguimos trabajando hacia lo que nuestra nación, estado y ciudad celebran: prosperidad, progreso, libertad y justicia para TODOS.
Continuemos trabajando juntos por un futuro mejor y más brillante.
