FOXCONN BREAKS GROUND ON WISCONN VALLEY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PARK
IN RACINE COUNTY
Foxconn Technology Group formally broke ground on the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in the Village of Mount Pleasant. Foxconn Founder and CEO Terry Gou was joined by President Donald J. Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Governor Scott Walker to mark the start of construction on the project.

“We are proud to mark this historic occasion and formally start construction of our state-of-the-art science and technology campus in America’s heartland,” said Gou.

“Over the past year, we have formed strong partnerships with communities across Wisconsin and we look forward to continuing to work with the talented, hard-working people here in the years ahead . We thank President Trump, Governor Walker, and Speaker Ryan for their commitment to this project that will help reinvigorate high-tech manufacturing in the U.S. and the high-tech industry in the Midwest .”

FOXCONN TO HOST COMMUNITY
OPEN HOUSE IN MOUNT PLEASANT
Foxconn Technology Group announced a two-day community open house that will provide residents from Racine County and the surrounding area an opportunity to see first-hand the advanced technologies that will be developed at its new Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Mount Pleasant .

“This two-day open house will give the public a chance to view and learn more about the latest technologies and applications that we will be developing at our Mount Pleasant campus,” said Louis Woo, Special Assistant to Foxconn Founder and CEO Terry Gou. “Part of being a good corporate citizen is engaging with the community, and we look forward to welcoming them to our facility , and meeting and talking with residents in and around the area.”

Foxconn will be showcasing cutting-edge applications of the advanced display technology that it will be developing at the Wisconsin campus. These include applications in a wide range of devices and solutions, from the latest generation of displays in self-driving cars and aircraft systems to learning systems, personalized entertainment, healthcare and medical solutions, advanced manufacturing systems, and applications in interactive retail and safety. 

The open house will take place on  Friday, June 29 , from 10 a.m. till 7 p.m.; and Saturday, June 30 , from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. at  13315 Globe Drive  in Mount Pleasant.

MAYOR MASON: RACINE BENEFITING FROM NEW PARTNERSHIPS AND FOXCONN
City of Racine Mayor Cory Mason recently shared his perspective on how Foxconn's unprecedented investment will benefit local residents and families.

Mayor Mason said, "As the mayor of Racine, I have two key priorities regarding Foxconn: (1) make sure Racine residents are well-positioned to pursue jobs tied to public and private development projects throughout the area; and (2) ensure that we protect Lake Michigan, our greatest natural resource . I'm proud to say that last week we made progress on both fronts."

" In terms of workforce development, last week, I was joined by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Ray Allen, County Executive Jonathan Delagrave, Gateway Technical College President Bryan Albrecht and other local and state officials to announce Racine Works, a $1.5 million workforce training program that will help train City of Racine residents for public and private construction job opportunities tied to Foxconn and other projects throughout our community," said Mayor Mason.

"This partnership between the city, the county, the Department of Workforce Development, UMOS and the Gateway Foundation will enable us to boost existing efforts and enhance their focus on City of Racine residents. In addition to workforce training, the Racine Works program will help ensure local hiring for publicly funded projects."

FOXCONN TO EXPAND WISCONN
VALLEY INNOVATION CENTER NETWORK
TO GREEN BAY
Foxconn announced it is expanding its new Wisconn Valley Innovation Network to Green Bay as part of its initiative to foster and attract talent and connect with supply chain partners throughout the state . The company has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase a landmark property in downtown Green Bay, with a closing on the property and opening of the innovation center anticipated later this year.

“We are excited to expand our ‘Wisconn Valley Innovation Center’ network to Northeast Wisconsin where we hope it will inspire innovative ideas and catalyze cutting-edge solutions from companies and entrepreneurs in that part of the state. The innovation center at Green Bay will play a key role in our goal to create a vibrant AI 8K+5G ecosystem in the U.S., with Wisconsin at the heart of this vision ,” said Terry Gou, Foxconn Founder and CEO. 

This investment marks another commitment by Foxconn to the State of Wisconsin and will ensure Foxconn’s contributions go well beyond the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Mount Pleasant, Racine County, and our North American headquarters in the City of Milwaukee .”

More than 200 Foxconn employees are expected to work at the center, where they will focus on developing applications for AI 8K+5G display technology that Foxconn is creating.

FOXCONN AWARDS $14 MILLION IN CONTRACTS FOR FIRST BUILDING ON
RACINE COUNTY PROJECT SITE
Foxconn and its general contractor, M+W | Gilbane, announced the selection of eight prime subcontractors, all with strong presence in Wisconsin, for the development of the first building – a 120,000 square foot multipurpose building – at the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Racine, Wisconsin.

The contracts awarded for the construction of the multipurpose building have a total value of $14 million . Foxconn will be announcing additional contracts for the development and construction of other facilities that are part of the first phase of the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in the coming months.

“We are pleased that a team of companies with strong track records in Wisconsin has been assembled to support the development and construction of our first building in the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park,” said Alan Yeung, Foxconn Director of U.S. Strategic Initiatives and President of FEWI Development Corporation. “ We are committed to our ‘Wisconsin First’ approach where we are actively working with local partners and tapping the talented and hardworking workforce in the state as part of our shared vision of transforming Wisconsin into a global technology and advanced manufacturing hub .”

The multipurpose building will serve as office space for construction companies involved in the building of the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park. It will also house research and development facilities focusing on advanced display technology and applications in all aspects of smart lives.

RACINE WATER WORKS COMMISSION
AWARDS CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF WATER MAINS SERVING FOXCONN PROJECT AREA
The Racine Water Works Commission voted to award contracts for the construction of two new water mains related to the Foxconn project along International Drive and Braun Road in the Village of Mount Pleasant. The capital costs associated with construction of the water mains will be provided by the Village of Mount Pleasant through TID #5 , which includes the Foxconn project area.

The Commission recommended awarding a contract for the construction of the International Drive water main to A.W. Oakes & Sons, Inc., of Mount Pleasant . The water main extension will carry water from International Drive, south of Highway 20, to Highway 11.

"We're very excited to play a part in this historic investment happening right in our backyard," said Daniel Oakes, President of A.W. Oakes & Sons. "The revitalization of our local utilities will help fuel the future growth of our community, which means more work for our employees. That is something we can all be grateful for."

In addition, the Commission recommended awarding a contract for the Braun Road water main, which extends service from Wisconn Valley Way to Green Bay Road, to Fischer Excavating from Freeport, Illinois. Though an Illinois-based company, Fischer Excavating is committed to Wisconsin First and has developed an inclusion plan focused on local hiring. 100% of the subcontractors and suppliers for the project are companies based in Wisconsin, including nine minority-owned businesses .

"Our company is very excited to be working on the Braun Road Transmission Main Extension. We have met with local unions and will be utilizing local labor as much as possible ," said Fischer Excavating Co-Owner Wayne Fischer. "This is an exciting time for everyone with the growth that is happening in this area, and we are thankful to be a part of it."

COUNTY EXECUTIVE: WE WANT TO LIFT EVERYBODY UP IN RACINE COUNTY
Recently, County Executive Jonathan Delagrave joined TMJ4's Charles Benson on the Foxconn project site to talk about opportunities coming to Racine County for local businesses, contractors and workers.

" It's about creating opportunities for individuals , and lifting everybody up in Racine County," said Delagrave.

On July 9 , The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold an I-94 North-South Project Team public meeting to share updates on road work surrounding the Foxonn project area. The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the SC Johnson iMET Center in Sturtevant (2320 Renaissance Blvd).

On July 16 , Village of Mount Pleasant officials and project partners will hold a monthly Foxconn Project Briefing at 6:00 p.m. at Ebe Auditorium at Mount Pleasant Village Hall (8811 Campus Drive).
