TIME RUNNING OUT!

CALL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TODAY TO SUPPORT NATIONAL BACKGROUND CHECK BILL
Time is running out on Beacon Hill for the Legislature to act before its 2-year session wraps up. If it does, every bill that didn't pass will have to start over.

Don't let that be the fate of the National Criminal Background Check Bill (known as the NBC Bill). H4125 (formerly H1674) is the MDSC's priority bill for a reason - it's critical to protecting our loved ones with Down syndrome from potentially dangerous and tragic circumstances.

Our NBC Bill has already made huge progress, passing through the challenging Judiciary Committee recently. But your calls are essential to get it out of the House Ways & Means Committee, where it now stands, and on to passage before the end of the month!

Take Action now to #passtheNBCbill. Here's all you have to do:
Please note: it is especially critical that you act if your Representative is on the House Ways & Means Committee. Here are those members:

Our Top Legislative Priority!

Over the last year, the MDSC has taken the reins to gather together a cross-disability public/private coalition to completely revamp the NBC Bill.

In May, the state's Judiciary Committee accepted our changes, gave it a new number (H4125) and passed it out favorably to the House Ways & Means Committee. The comprehensive legislation, based on a similar piece of legislation related to school employees that passed last year, would once and for all close a gaping loophole that puts our loved ones at risk.
