Thank you for your interest in our website/business services and in our special initiative for helping abused animals.

As we finished with our first New York blizzard, I wanted to share some suggestions to protect your pets during the cold season.

* The winter is hard on pets' paws and fur.  Avoid

these dangers:

  • hypothermia, frost bite or death from extreme cold,
  • ice-melt, anti-freeze or other dangerous chemicals from the road causing ulcers, irritating the esophagus and mouth, vomiting and even death when ingested,
  • hard-packed snow and ice causing paws to cracks and bleed.
 * Keep all pets inside - especially in extreme cold.
 * Wipe their paws and belly after they've been outside.
 * Paw balms and boots protect and sooth paw pads, avoid cracks and cuts.
 * A humidifier helps your pets' skin in a very dry home,
 * Coats and sweaters should be used especially on short-haired dogs to help keep them warm.
 * Always check under the car and bang your hood before starting your car to wake any outdoor cats who've sought warmth there.

Rescue Organizations
List your organization in our directory for free.

One of our goals is to inform people about the issues related to animal welfare.

Another goal is to create a database of rescue organizations to support collaborative efforts wherever possible. Hopefully, such a database will enable the leveraging of costs and services to achieve greater successes.

If you know of an organization that would like to list themselves on our directory for free, please forward this newsletter to them. They can list themselves HERE at www.HelpingAbusedAnimals.com.
