This is a public meeting to solicit input.
Sarasota County Planning and Development Services Department wants you to know about proposed publicly-initiated amendments to revise
Policies VOS 4.3 (Open Space) and VOS5.1 (Greenbelts) of the Sarasota County Comprehensive Plan, Future Land Use Chapter, Sarasota 2050 RMA System section, and other policies as necessary. Related Zoning Ordinance Amendments to subsections 11.2.5.h. (Open Space Uses) and 11.2.10.a.1. (Greenbelt) would be required to implement the policy changes, if approved. The proposed changes to policies and zoning regulations will be reviewed at the meeting.
The amendments could allow the County Commission to:
- Grant requests to reduce the Open Space of a 2050 Village to less than the required 50%, but to no less than a minimum of 33%, with established criteria; and
- Grant requests for exceptions and/or reduction of the required 500-foot Greenbelt widths of a 2050 Village, with established criteria.
