Lake Shore Drive Protest Information
Dear Neighbors,

A number of recent robberies have occurred in the 19th District with offenders approaching victims walking down the street. The offenders then, either throw the victim to the ground or display a handgun, taking the victim's property.

Incident times and locations in our Ward:

  • 2700 Block of North Hampden on July 29, 2018 at approx. 1:30am

  • 600 Block of West Drummond on July 29, 2018 at approx. 9:30pm

About the Offender:

  • Off #1 – Male Black 18-30yo 5'9"- 6'0" Dreadlocks

  • Off #2 – Male Black 18-25yo 5'7"- 5'8" 130-160lbs, Red Baseball Hat

  • Off #3 – Male Black 5'10" 240lbs

In one incident the offenders are seen fleeing the scene in a Black Impala.

Our 19th District Commander, Marc Buslik, assures me that there will be increased patrols assigned to our area.

What you can do:

  • Be aware of this crime and alert your neighbors.

  • Pay special attention to any suspicious people loitering in the area and be aware of your surroundings.

  • Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information.

Protest Route

Thursday, August 2nd
4:00 p.m.

The protest planned in the 44th Ward, (the Ward just north of ours), is scheduled to begin on Lake Shore Drive and Diversey on Thursday, August 2nd at 4:00 p.m.. The police department continues to meet with city agencies, participants, and are working to ensure safety for participants and residents.
 
At 4:00 p.m. Northbound traffic will be blocked on Lake Shore Drive at Diversey and at Belmont. Protesters/Participants will then proceed west on Belmont to Clark and then head north on Clark to Addison. Rolling street closures are expected and will occur as needed. OEMC (Office of Emergency Management) and CPD (Chicago Police Department) will reroute and direct traffic as necessary.

Please avoid Lake Shore Drive at this time and take alternates. Use public transportation if at all possible.
