Why ignoring the need for training updates won't work!
The industry of critical driver training is having a difficult task of keeping up with technology and relevant training for inexperienced drivers, as well as accessing a budget that adequately addresses the related challenges and needed outcomes.
Not training because you have no budget is as dangerous as training old control techniques for use in driving modern cars. Driver information and knowledge about these new systems is fundamental to safe operation. When a new firearm is issued, steps are taken immediately to train in the use and care of the weapon. The same should be done when a driver gets behind the wheel of any of the new generation vehicles. There are more systems to be aware of, new techniques to driving with instead of against them, and new limits governed by the laws of physics. Not understanding the change is no excuse and certainly won't offer protection from liability. The courts are not ignorant to the problem of using old curriculum to satisfy training requirements that no longer stand up to technically correct, modern results.
At the ALERT International Training Symposium for EVOC instructors that recently concluded in Savannah, GA, the need was evident for raising the bar from old techniques and curriculum to focus on new training and standards. SKIDCAR SYSTEM, Inc. has been producing EVO training events for many years. Our last symposium addressed modern training techniques, future training technologies, and only a historical view of the past

The SKIDCAR SYSTEM® is an advanced driver training solution that teaches drivers to anticipate car control problems before they occur. With SKIDCAR™, drivers experience exactly how a vehicle will behave in situations that can cause traction loss, including adverse weather, excessive speed, rapid braking or steering errors. But unlike other programs that simply teach reactionary motor skills, SKIDCAR trains drivers to think, maintain control, and avoid trouble ahead of time. |
