Greetings!
The season seems to be changing early this year, at least it is starting to feel that way in the yarn shops with their new spring yarn arrivals. Pick up some fresh new Crystal Palace yarns at your LYS or favorite online shop and try out one of our FREE patterns on our website. We have new Sausalito and Cotton Twirl patterns available, or work up one of the transitional winter-into-spring designs from Ravelry this month. What ever you do, we hope you make Crystal Palace part of your spring knitting and crocheting.
This spring we really want to hear from you! Become part of our Facebook community to receive immediate updates on products, patterns and promotions. Post comments, read what others are saying and come join in the CPY fun.
Sincerely, Cathy Campbell Crystal Palace Yarns

Sausalito:
Available in stores starting March 7th!
Sausalito has arrived at our warehouse, and we have begun to ship it out to shops. That means that it should be available in shops starting next week (week of March 7th)!
Sausalito is a two-ply, fingering-weight yarn made from 80% merino wool and 20% nylon. It boasts a self-striping, tweedy effect in typical vibrant Crystal Palace colorways. Contact your local or online shop to purchase some of this beautiful yarn. |
Sausalito:
New FREE patterns!
We have three FREE Sausalito patterns already available online, with more on the way. The two-ball Slip-Stitch Rib Cap is a simple two-ball cap featuring alternating rows of k1 x p1 and sl 1 x p1 ribs for a more defined stitch pattern. Next is the lovely Curly Scarf by Susan Druding, another one-ball project which uses increase rows to create a fabulous, soft and light ruffle. And working up the Cable Warmth Fingerless Gloves pattern is a great way to practice your "C6L" (cable over 6 stitches, slanting to the left). These gloves feel terrific on the hands, and you only need one ball to make them!
We have other Sausalito patterns in the works, two of which can be previewed now on our website. The one-ball Short Row Mittens by Sandi Rosner are knitted sideways and use short rows for shaping. The elegant Crocheted Shell Shawl is a gorgeous show-stopper designed by Gail Tanquary. This beauty uses four balls of Sausalito. We will be adding more patterns throughout the season, so check back often. Enjoy! |
Cotton Twirl: 14 new solid colors for summer 2011!

We are expanding the solid color range of Crystal Palace Cotton Twirl with 14 new, multi-seasonal, fashionable shades. These new colors, plus the four original Spring 2011 solids, make great additions to the now 43-color palette.
The heavy worsted-weight Cotton Twirl knits well at 16-18 sts/inch. The twisted construction and fiber content (90% cotton / 10% elastic nylon) produce a fun, soft-textured yarn which holds shape beautifully. Our designers are currently developing more pattern support for Cotton Twirl to put on our website, including baby garments and toys, sweaters and accessories. Just added are the Woman's Shrug, an adult version of the original Girl's Ballet Shrug, and the Fishy Fish, a cute toy or decor item that works up quickly and uses one to two balls of yarn. We will feature more Cotton Twirl patterns in upcoming "Purls from the Palace" issues and on Ravelry and Facebook, as they become available. See all of our current Cotton Twirl patterns here.
The first four colors on the sample card above are already available in shops. The 14 new colors will be available by early summer. |
Indie News:
Ruth's Entrelac Shawl & Seaman's Knot Scarf
Our independent designers are at it once again, complementing our free pattern library with exquisite, independent, for-purchase patterns. This month we are featuring two such patterns from Ravelry. Ruth's Entrelac Butterfly Shawl is a stunning coverlet designed by Ruth Thome and published by Yarn-Love, a yarn store located in Hummelstown, PA. The triangle-shaped, entrelac edging adds excitement to wear and to knit. It takes only two balls of Mini Mochi, although a third ball can be used to extend the edging if desired. A Mini Mochi Shawl never disappoints. Being a sucker for any cable work, I must say that my heart skipped a beat when I saw Adrienne Fong's gorgeous brand new Seaman's Knot Scarf pattern. It is knit out of our beloved and affordable Merino 5, which captures the fisherman look and produces crisp stitch definition, all with a softness that only 100% machine-washable merino can offer. Merino 5 is a superb go-to yarn for any project that calls for a light worsted-weight gauge (5 sts/inch). It currently comes in 32 multis and 27 solid colors, and we are developing more exciting shades to add for next fall.
