In my last newsletter, I introduced FireFly's formula for employee engagement.  July 1st signals the fiscal year half-way point for many companies.  Now would be an excellent time to assess progress on your strategic plan --- and to re-engage your employees in the execution of that plan.  Below, I share my approach for helping clients achieve their strategic goals utilizing the secret of employee Purpose.

Nearly a century later, Gallup confirmed this idea with research showing that engaged employees are more productive, more profitable, create stronger customer relationships and stay longer with companies.  Helping employees understand how their responsibilities contribute to the overall success of the company - how they can help your business set sail to explore the immense ocean - is the first step toward building a connection to their jobs. 


 

Managers can move toward greater employee engagement - and the productivity gains that follow - by defining how their team helps the company achieve this year's strategic goals and then helping each individual draw a line from their work to those goals. When employees understand the reason behind their assignments and are recognized for the value of their contributions, they will find purpose in their jobs.


 

Once employees have found their PURPOSE, managers can enhance their work by incorporating PASSION. I'll be discussing the second part of my PURPOSE + PASSION = PRODUCTIVITY formula in our next newsletter.
