What's that rattle under my car?
Lately we've been hearing a lot of customers complain about a rattle noise under their car. Most of the time we find it to be caused by a section of the exhaust system called the catalytic converter. Its purpose is to burn unburned fuel from the engine before it leaves your exhaust and goes into the air we breathe. If your engine is not running properly and burning the fuel efficiently then the catalytic converter will have to work even harder, run hotter than usual, and eventually can cause it to fail prematurely. Its known as an emissions control device and helps cars pollute less. If you have a check engine light on, depending on the fault in the system, it could be a warning to let you know your catalytic converter is working too hard and if you run the vehicle like this for too long it could cause it to fail. So get it checked out sooner rather than later because it could cost you more money in the long run.
