Q'ero Crisis on Their Ancestral Land
To all our friends who have had the honor to receive blessings and make offerings to  Pachamama , Mother Earth with the wonderful Q'ero healers of Ausangate Mountain ---- The Q'ero Nation urgently needs your support NOW.

Please read this message and  who may have benefited from the healing wisdom and knowledge of the Q'ero over the past decades.

The Q'ero ancestral territories are being threatened by an audacious land grab. Recently six non-Q'ero men redrew maps and registered them in Cusco, claiming for themselves vast sections of ancestral grazing land used by the Q'ero for centuries. This land, in the folds beneath the beloved Ausangate  apukuna , sacred snow peaks, rightfully belongs to the Q'ero communities.

To compound the injustice of the illegal land grab, these men confiscate any Q'ero alpaca and sheep grazing and crossing into their 'claimed' territory, then charge up to 50 soles per animal before returning the precious livestock to its rightful owner. To farmers, this land grab is a dire threat to their day-to-day and mutual livelihood. The Q'ero communities operate, as they have for centuries, in a subsistence-based economy and a culture of trust and  ayni , reciprocity.

Desperate, the vice president of the Q'ero Nation has sought legal advice. A lawyer agreeing to help them reclaim their land is disdainfully requesting $2000 from each of the seven communities, an amount far beyond their combined abilities to raise money.

I am asking you to  who may help mobilize assistance on all fronts for the Q'ero communities. This affects the entire Q'ero Nation. If you are reading this and can tap into resources that may aid the Q'ero to rightfully claim their ancestral land, I urge you to  take action.

The vice president is a  Pakko initiated elder and trusted friend of mine for the past two decades. He continues to live and work as a  pampamisayok in one of the seven communities. He is related to the many pakkokuna you may know from the community of Q'ero healers working and living with their families in Cusco. Many of them travel overseas, work in spiritual tourism and may not even realize what is happening at Q'ero.

I am concerned that there are sinister motives at foot to steal the Qero's land bit by bit. A road has been recently opened, and mining companies are interested in the wealth of materials that may lie beneath the surface. Exploiting the indigenous people appears to continue, and they have no assistance or protection by the government. There is no appreciation of their ancestral traditions linked to the Inkan people, nor appreciation of their roles as true caretakers of beloved
Pachamama, Mother Earth. I greatly fear that we are witnessing something similar to what the Spanish came to do over 500 years ago.  I'm reaching out to you. It's urgent that we do something about this, rather than step back and do nothing.

Take a look at the new distorted map I have attained showing the land in question at the bottom section. These six Peruvian men have had the audacity to register the land as their own property in Cusco's registry office, replacing the original official land of the Q'ero Nation. These things happen in Peru, when unscrupulous people steal from trusting, humble and honest Q'ero who do nothing more than work hard and honor and respect our beloved Pachamama, protecting her most sacred Apu in Southern Peru, Ausangate.

Qero map in dispute
Changed Q'ero map where the six men are claiming the dark green area, and have taken off the light green area.

Spiritual leaders, Shamans, anthropologists, archeologists and the multitude of travelers who have benefited spiritually as well as financially from the healing wisdom of the Q'eros ---- this is your opportunity to be of service to these communities. Many of you have benefitted from the loving kindness, care for Pachamama and healing from authentic initiated Q'ero healers in a multitude of ways. Many of them have passed on. But their land, their Nation must survive.

Perhaps you or someone in your circle has connections to reputable legal resources in Peru. Perhaps you know Peruvian government officials, or others who may be able to aid the Q'ero to assert their rightful claim to their lands. Assistance on the ground in Peru is absolutely crucial.

and ask those who have had the privilege to experience the Q'ero healing wisdom to give back to the Q'ero in this time of need.

With my continuing love, respect and service for the Q'ero people, it is my promise that every cent earmarked for the Q'ero reclamations of land will go directly into a special account to get trustworthy legal council offered by organizations protecting indigenous people's rights. Make your donation indicating "Q'ero Crisis" to the Willka T'ika Children's Fund 501(c)(3), where I guarantee that 100% of proceeds will go to mobilize assistance on all fronts for the Q'ero Nation.

Your donation of any amount truly helps. Together we can assist the Q'ero obtain reputable and effective legal representation to hold on to their lands and legal rights.

From my heart, I ask that you join me to  and raise the funds to help the seven Q'ero communities fight for the ancestral lands that are rightfully theirs. Without your help, the Qero will lose their land.
Qero rock altar

The Qero are faced with the threat of the extinction of their precious ancestral territories. The vice president of the Q'ero Nation, a  Pakko and dear friend of mine for over 20 years is extremely concerned. He does not know what to do. His community is losing their invaluable alpaca and sheep on a daily basis. His passion and work is to serve Pachamama and help his Nation. His explanation of the current situation, as translated by Quechua-speaking Willka T'ika employees have allowed me to clearly understand his situation.

Translated Plea from the Q'ero vice president:
In Ancasi, jurisdiction of Q'ero, a small group of six habitants have appropriated an extension of our territory that corresponds to the Q'ero Nation. Today, these people are capriciously claiming ownership of this property. To resolve this problem of property limits between the Q'ero and Ancasi, each of the seven Q'ero communities need $2000 to pay for legal consultation specifically for Indigenous Community Laws-an amount beyond the Q'eros' reality.
Friends of the living culture ---- Q'ero Nation. Today is the moment to offer critical support to our brothers. For over twenty years, we have been dealing with problems with our property limits and our neighbors of Ancasi. The neighbors currently charge 27-50 soles to return any grazing animal that crosses into their supposed property.
For this reason, in desperation, I came to Willka T'ika to show Carol the maps that have been altered by these invaders, and seek help to resolve this problem between Q'ero and Ancasi.
According to the Public Registry, Ancasi has no legal document showing land entitlement to this property that they are claiming illegally. This problem has lasted 22 years. Today, resolution is critical to our campesino community of the Q'eros, while the six habitants of Ancasi steal Q'ero animals on the claimed Ancasi territory.
