Is retail dead? Craig Byers discusses what's happening with today's retail market.

  • Peck's Landing - (3990 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Hiawatha) 20-acre development comprised of over 154,000 SF retail and mixed-use opportunities. 

  • PLANNED Kum & Go (Muscatine Ave., Iowa City) construction of 5,900 SF Marketplace store to replace two smaller fuel/convenience stores.

  • Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery - (1441 Marak Rd. NW, Swisher) plans to spend $2 million to double whiskey production and expand the distillery.

  • McGrath Dealership - (5131 Council St. NE, Cedar Rapids) plans to invest $6.36 million to build a used car superstore and a new 10,000 SF showroom.

  • Dunkin' Donuts - (618 Meade Dr., North Liberty) 2,000+/- SF donut shop with a drive-through window and seating for 14.

  • Discount Tire - (1500 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids) 10,000 SF single-story retail tire location.

  • Hy-Vee - (3285 Crosspark Road., Coralville) 85,000 SF grocery store is under construction, expected to open by end of 2018.

  • PLANNED Pilot Travel Center - (8950 Earhart Ln. SW, Cedar Rapids) 8,200 SF convenience store/restaurant and fueling lanes.

  • Junge Ford - (525 N. Madison St., North Liberty) new 31,000 SF Junge Ford full-service dealership.

  • PLANNED Hieronymus Square - (314 S. Clinton St., Iowa City) $41 million mixed-use project including 2 seven-story buildings joined by a 2-story vestibule with commercial, office and residential space.

  • PLANNED Forest View - (SW corner of I-380 & N. Dubuque St., Iowa City) 70-acre redevelopment project that includes housing, hotels, commercial and residential space.

  • 329 12th - (329 12th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids) $5 million mixed-use development with retail on the 1st floor, apartments on the 2nd & 3rd floors and condos on the 4th floor.  

  • PLANNED ArtTech Village - (450 & 455 16th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids) A single, 3-sided building with 4 stories. 1st floor is 34,000 SF of commercial space with 120,000 SF of residential on floors 2 through 4. Project cost $25 million.

  • PLANNED Skogman - (421 First Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids) - plans to demolish three existing buildings to construct a three-story 40,000 SF office building.

  • PLANNED Pinnacle - (1951 1st Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids) - 27,000 SF Class A office building.

  • PLANNED Smulekoff's Warehouse - (411 6th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids) convert four stories of former 75,880 SF warehouse into open office space.

  • Kinzler Construction - (9915 Atlantic Dr. SW, Cedar Rapids) constructing a new building with twice the space they currently occupy including a customer showroom and order desk.

  • PLANNED Freund-Vector - (675 44th St., Marion) preliminary discussions to build a 17,000 SF lab and research and development facility estimated at $6.5 million.

  • PLANNED Midwest Third Party Logistics - (4645 20th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids) proposing 800,000+/- SF of new warehouse/distribution space in 3 facilities estimated at $30 million.

  • Legacy Manufacturing - (6509 Partners Ave., Marion) expanding their current facility by another 100,000-200,000 SF.

  • Marion Performance Group - (3575 3rd Ave., Marion) adding 6,100 SF to their existing campus for a state-of-the-art facility estimated at $1.5 million.

  • Highway Equipment Co. - (1330 76th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids) plans to build a $3 million, 32,000 SF enclosed equipment test facility.

  • PLANNED Anthony Properties Apartments - (6420 Rockwell Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids) plans to build 3, 3-story buildings with 99 apartments.

  • PLANNED Anthony Properties Apartments - (6025 Ridgemont Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids) plans to build 3, 3-story buildings with 84 apartments.

  • PLANNED The Preserve@Sand Hill - (S. Gilbert St. & McCollister Blvd., Iowa City) 196 housing units including town home-style single-family units and multifamily buildings on a 22-acre parcel.

  • PLANNED 500 on 1st - (500 1st Street SW, Cedar Rapids) $3.8 million project with 36 studio apartment units on floors two through four with parking and common area on first floor.

  • PLANNED Sixth Street Commons - (407- 425 Sixth St. SW, Cedar Rapids) 10-unit, two-story multifamily development.

  • PLANNED Redstone - (317 Second St. SW, Cedar Rapids) $2 million, 15-unit row house development replacing former Wells Fargo Bank drive-thru.

  • Stoney Point Meadows - (16th Ave. SW & Stoney Pt. Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids) $19 million assisted-living and memory-care facility with 95 units.

  • Unity Point Health - (Council St. NE & Tower Ter. NE, Cedar Rapids) $14.9 million, 46,420 SF skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

  • Uptown Dental - (890 7th Ave., Marion) - construction of 5,007 SF dental office.
  • Petersen Pet Hospital - (1031 Kacena Rd., Hiawatha) $1.7 million, 7,500 SF veterinary facility under construction.

  • PLANNED Hiawatha Library - (150 W. Willman St., Hiawatha) Planning a $4.1 million project to expand existing library by 13,500 SF.

  • PLANNED Comfort Inn - (Airport Commerce Park, Cedar Rapids) $5 million, 3-level, 72-room hotel.

  • PLANNED North Liberty Entertainment Center - (Madison Ave. & W Penn St., North Liberty) $7.5 million, 37,000 SF family entertainment center.

  • PLANNED North Liberty Self Storage - (I-380 & Penn S. interchange, North Liberty) 2 acre site with six climate-controlled storage buildings.
