After sharing the news of accepting the Executive Director position at Prospera Business Network, the conversation with my family and friends typically included the question: "So what does Prospera do?"  For myself, I am excited to be joining a dynamic organization that is providing direct services to emerging entrepreneurs and helping businesses grow. But, I was still challenged to find an easy way to sum-up what Prospera does, and then it came to me, Prospera helps businesses and communities succeed.

With just a few weeks on the job, I now know that Prospera  is currently managing; sixteen active business loans, nine Big Sky Trust Fund community development and job creation grants, fostering 10 new businesses via the Montana Women's Business Center and has at least four pending business development projects in the works.

In practical terms, Prospera is connecting people, community leaders and businesses with the resources that they need to help grow the economy. Each client, community and business situation is different - but our mission is the same - help people succeed.

This is an exciting time to be joining Prospera and to be celebrating our 30th Anniversary in 2015. Thank you to all of our members, especially our founding members whose visionary leadership saw the need in 1985 for an organization that could directly serve the economic development needs of the communities in Gallatin and Park Counties.

I look forward to meeting and working with all of you as Prospera grows and expands its reach, as we work together to help our local businesses and communities succeed.

Sincerely,
Paul Reichert Signature

Since 2009 Prospera's Montana Women's Business Center (WBC) program has relied on funds from Prospera's members to access federal grant funding. In the spring of 2015,  Prospera launched two fundraising initiatives to make the Montana WBC a self-sustaining program.

One of these initiatives is the Legacy Society, which consists of Community Leaders Coming Together to Create a Legacy for Women Entrepreneurs with charitable gifts of $1,000 or more to Prospera's Gallatin Valley Foundation for Economic Development.

Serena Rundberg, a Montana WBC client and Revolving Loan Fund recipient through Prospera, generously hosted a small gathering at her newly-opened Feed Cafe in early May to introduce the Legacy Society to some of our supporters. That evening Jim Ness, President of Big Sky Western Bank and a member of the Prospera Board of Directors, committed the support of Big Sky Western Bank to the Legacy Society, saying:

"I heard some great success stories at your kickoff event and I know much of the work you do with the WBC supports our local businesses in many ways.  I know the banks are directly impacted by the work you do.  I heard several banks mentioned at your kickoff and it was great to hear of the special relationships that have been developed in assisting these women entrepreneurs achieve their goals.  I think it is important to support the WBC...to make sure this organization can continue to provide these much needed services to our business community."
