Holiday Break Information 
Here is a quick reminder that there will be no classes in Liberty Public Schools from Thursday, December 22, 2016 - Monday, January 2, 2017Tuesday, January 3, 2017, is a teacher workday, with no classes taking place on this day. Classes will resume in LPS on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. 
Building Pride Campaign Makes Exciting Announcements 
To say there was a lot of excitement in the Board Room at the LPS District Administration Center on Monday afternoon, December 12, would be an understatement.

Flanked by a few dozen large poster boards covered with black draping, Building Pride Co-Chair Shane Davolt introduced the business and corporate sponsorship donors who have stepped forward to support the district's activity complexes private fundraising campaign, which officially launched September 1, 2016. After the sponsorship boards were unveiled to the packed room one-by-one, Davolt announced the exciting news that approximately $2.5 million had been committed in just the first 100 days of the campaign.

LPS to Host Holiday Open House Friday, December 16 
Liberty Public Schools will get into the holiday spirit on Friday, December 16, as elementary schools from throughout the district will perform various holiday selections as part of the 3rd Annual LPS Holiday Open House. All performances will take place in the Board Room on the 3rd floor of the District Administration Center, 8 Victory Lane. Public Notice - Applications for Candidacy - LPS Board of Education
The Liberty 53 School District will accept declaration of candidacy from any person interested in running for a position on the Liberty School Board in the April 4, 2017, election. Persons interested may file at the Liberty Public Schools District Administration Center, 8 Victory Lane, Liberty, MO.

Filing will begin on December 20, 2016, at 8 a.m. and will continue during the district's regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Filing will end on January 17, 2017, at 5 p.m.

There will be three positions available with three-year terms and one position available for a one-year term.

LHS Speech and Debate Rolls at Semester's Last Tournament
The Liberty High School Speech and Debate team continued its dominance this season with strong showings at Raytown South and Lee's Summit this weekend. At Raytown South, varsity won the tournament championship! At William Chrisman, novice was also the tournament champion in a field of over 25 schools. For the fourth week in a row, the team began the week ranked among the Top 5 debate teams in the country!
At Raytown South, the following students earned individual honors:

-          Summer Olson and Jacklyn Drewry- 4th place, policy debate
-          Lynsie Daniels- 3rd place, Lincoln Douglas debate

In an effort to make our Liberty Public Schools e-newsletter, QuickNews (QN), a concise publication, which subscribers may read in a timely fashion, district/community announcements will be advertised in the main QuickNews section for a maximum of two weeks.  After this period of time, announcements will be transferred to our QuickNews Bulletin Board, which is located on the LPS website provided at the link below. In addition, the Bulletin Board may include announcements not meeting the criteria to be placed in this publication. The addition of the QN Bulletin Board allows them to now be publicized. This bulletin board will continuously be updated throughout the week, and announcements will remain until they expire by date.
