A Trio of Wrestling Champions in Columbia
It was an historic evening in Columbia, MO, for LPS, as a total of three wrestlers captured State championships, including two freshmen.

Liberty High School saw freshman Jeremiah Reno win the 106 pound Class 4 weight class, capping a perfect 43-0 season.  Fellow LHS freshman,  Greyden Penner, followed that up with his own State title in the 145-pound weight class. To round out the day, Liberty North High School senior Daterraion Richardson came out on top in his 285-pound championship match!  Richardson became the first LNHS wrestler to win a State title in school history. Bye Bye Birdie Coming to SVMS
Bye Bye Birdie comes to South Valley Middle School March 9, 10, and 11. Come and see the story of none-too-successful songwriter Albert Peterson as he hatches a plot with his secretary - and long-suffering girlfriend - to get rock-and-roll phenomenon Conrad Birdie to sing one of his songs on the Ed Sullivan show. The pop star would then symbolically kiss goodbye to a young lady chosen at random from the country's womanhood, this being his last appearance before being drafted. Complicated to start with, things get more tricky as everyone, including Albert's clinging mother, descend on the small town where the chosen girl lives.
Show time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance online.  Please go to the LPS Fine Arts website ( and click on the ShowTix4U logo at the top of the page. Tickets will also be available at the South Valley Middle School box office one hour before the start of each show.

Preparing for Kindergarten Event Coming March 2
Liberty Parents as Teachers is helping families make a smooth transition to kindergarten. Join us for the upcoming event, Preparing for Kindergarten, on Thursday, March 2, 6:30 p.m., at the Early Childhood Center, 9600 NE 79 Street, Kansas City, MO 64158.

Parents as Teachers hosts this annual event to help parents know more about kindergarten.  A panel made up of district personnel (kindergarten teachers, counselor, principal, nurse) will talk about kindergarten. This is a great opportunity to have any questions answered, find out more about the kindergarten experience, and how to help your child make the transition. It is also helpful for those parents who haven't decided whether or not their child will go to kindergarten next year (due to late spring or summer birthdays).

This is for parents only please.  No reservation is required.  Childcare is not provided.

Reminder:  Kindergarten Roundup is March 28 at the elementary school the student will attend in the fall.
LPS Women in STEM Mom/Daughter Breakfast Information
This event is for middle school girls and an accompanying female parent or guardian. Participants will have the opportunity to informally meet with women that work in STEM-based careers like engineering or computer programming. Our hope is that young girls leave with the understanding there are TONS of really awesome jobs out in the real world, and that you don't have to change who you are in order to find a career that you'll love!  The breakfast will take place March 4 from 9-10 a.m. in the Liberty North High School library. You need to be registered to attend and may do so by clicking here .
QuickNews Bulletin Board
In an effort to make our Liberty Public Schools e-newsletter, QuickNews (QN), a concise publication, which subscribers may read in a timely fashion, district/community announcements will be advertised in the main QuickNews section for a maximum of two weeks.  After this period of time, announcements will be transferred to our QuickNews Bulletin Board, which is located on the LPS website provided at the link below. In addition, the Bulletin Board may include announcements not meeting the criteria to be placed in this publication. The addition of the QN Bulletin Board allows them to now be publicized. This bulletin board will continuously be updated throughout the week, and announcements will remain until they expire by date. To access this page, simply click here

In addition, LPS has transitioned to a new eflyer management system called Peachjar.  You can simply click the logo below to visit the program website.
