LPS Receives Solid Review from AdvancED National Accreditation Team
April 5, the AdvancED External Review Team of six educational experts from Missouri, and across the nation, recommended the Distinction of Accreditation to Liberty Public Schools. AdvancED, a global leader in providing research-based, continuous improvement and accreditation worldwide, completed an External Systems Review of Liberty Public Schools from April 2-5.  Over the past year, all LPS schools submitted narrative reports and supporting documents to provide evidence needed for the Systems Accreditation. The Index of Education Quality (IEQ) is used to measure the system. More on AdvancED news will be provided in the weeks to come. 
Building Pride Campaign Topic of Next Coffee with the Community 
LPS will host our next Coffee with the Community tomorrow (Thursday, April 13) on the 3rd floor of the District Administration Center, 8 Victory Lane. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.; this month we will receive an update on the Building Pride Campaign, which has been raising private funds to construct District Activity Complexes at both Liberty High School and Liberty North High School. We hope you will make plans to join us!

Susan Lynn Receives Distinguished Educator Recognition 
Susan Lynn has been awarded the Distinguished Educator Award by the Foreign Language Association of Missouri (FLAM). Mrs. Lynn will be honored at FLAM's annual fall conference in St. Charles, Missouri, on October 27. This prestigious award is presented each year to an outstanding Missouri educator who has significantly and positively impacted foreign language teaching and learning. The honoree must possess a minimum of ten years teaching experience at the elementary,middle, secondary, or post-secondary level. Congratulations to Ms. Lynn on this fantastic news! 
LPS Night With Swope Park Rangers This Saturday Night
The Swope Park Rangers, a United Soccer League affiliate of Sporting KC, will be hosting LPS Night this Saturday, April 15. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Pre-game activities include a $7 tailgate meal deal, autograph session with Futbol Club Kansas City player Shea Groom, and an Easter egg hunt.

A chicken toss and penalty kicks shootout between the Liberty and Liberty North mascots is planned for halftime, and Rangers players will be signing autographs after the game. Get your tickets by clicking here and use promo code Eagles or BlueJays to receive a discount.

LNHS Preps for Prom 2017 This Weekend
Eagle logo The 2017 Liberty North Prom, Beginning of an Era, will be held at The View at Briarcliff (4000 N. Mulberry Drive, KC, MO 64116) on Saturday, April 22, from 8-11 p.m. For more information, please read the  2017 Prom Newsletter, which highlights the upcoming Prom festivities. Vote for LHS Educators in Teachers Who Inspire Contest 
You may recall that earlier this semester, two teachers from Liberty High School were selected as Teachers Who Inspire, a metro-wide contest hosted by KMBC Channel 9. Now it is time for them to select the metro-wide Teacher of the Year, which is determined by a public vote. You will find both Erin Ramsey and Amy Ahart on the ballot, and we strongly encourage you to participate, and vote for one of our nominees! HMS Presents, The Baseball Show
The Baseball Show is an American tale about pine tar, bleacher seats, and hometown heroes . As our umpire says, this play's about baseball. Real baseball. The game of baseball, not the business. All you need for real baseball is a bat, a ball, a backyard, maybe a vacant lot. And the feeling that today's the day! For a home run, for stealing second, then sliding right under the catcher's glove to score the winning run. The feeling that anything's possible...that baseball feeling.

PAT Wild World of Sports Dad Event
Dads (or the special man in your child's life) and Little Super Stars - Come join us for a Saturday morning of sports! There will be events such as golf, mountain climbing, basketball, running, balls to throw, bowling, fishing, obstacle course, and so much more!

Liberty Academy Hosts Another Successful Bowl-a-Thon 
The annual Liberty Academy Bowl-a-Thon was recently held with nearly $3,000 raised, exceeding their goal by nearly $1,000! This event is held to support the American Cancer Society. Thanks to Shannon Lawson for her efforts in making this an amazing event for a great cause!
Free Electronic Recycling
Take advantage of this upcoming electronics recycling opportunity! Dispose of your used and broken electronics by taking them to the Liberty High School parking lot on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m.-noon for free recycling. If it has a cord or runs on batteries, they'll take it! There will be a small fee for CRT televisions, depending on size. District/Community Events
Driver's Education Opportunity Still Available 
Does your son or daughter want to learn to drive this summer? Do you want professionals to assist in the training?  LPS has the best program and value around! 
 
Your son or daughter will drive with one of five driving instructors.  The course begins with an all-day instruction class on May 30 or 31, then driving during the month of June.  Cost is $330 if paid before May 1, 2017. Sign up soon to reserve your spot. To register for the program, click here.

Jazz Sax & Rhythm Section Clinic
Cindy Price Svehla, LPS Band Director, and Mike Steffen, Educational Representative for Palen Music Center, are co-hosting a jazz sax and rhythm section clinic on April 18, from 4:30-6 p.m., in the Liberty North High School band room, 1000 NE 104th Street, Liberty. Click here for more information.
Parents as Teachers to Host Meet Me to Play Outside at the ECC 
The Liberty Parents as Teachers program will be hosting Meet Me to Play Outside at the ECC on Wednesday, May 10,  from 10-11 a.m. This event will be held at the Early Childhood Center, 9600 NE 79th Street, Kansas City, MO.
 
Bring your child(ren) and explore the wonderful Early Childhood Center outdoor playground.  Your child will have the opportunity to use their senses, develop language, and build motor skills. You and your child will have a chance to engage in social time with others.
 
This  PAT Group Connections is for families with children birth through pre-kindergarten.  For more information, call 736-7020. Please note that this event will be canceled in the event of heavy rain. 
Robotics Camp Coming This Summer
The Liberty Robotics Foundation and Liberty Robotics Team 1764 will be hosting a Robotics Summer Camp June 5-9, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Liberty High School.
 
Using problem solving skills, creativity, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills, students working in teams will construct, program, and compete with a Vex robot.  Supplies and programming software will be provided. This camp is open to all incoming 6th - 12th grade students. Cost is $150 per student and includes a t-shirt and pizza on the final day of camp (bring lunch the first four days). Make checks payable to Liberty Robotics Foundation.

Competition will be the last day of camp - spectators and parents are welcome!

Camp is limited to 40 students. First come, first served.

Relay For Life of KC North Kick Ball Tournament

5th Annual Relay for Life Kansas City Royals Fundraiser
Join us as our Kansas City Royals take on the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, April 30. Cost is $30 per person for the reserved fountain area. A portion of your ticket purchase will be donated to the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life of KC North. Click here to learn more. Technology and Engineering Night (TEN)
What is TEN? TEN is an opportunity for elementary-to-high school students to have fun with technology. Students will learn about the possibilities of technology- and engineering-based careers. This event seeks to inform parents as to how these fields can be beneficial to their child as more than just a career. Learning about technology can foster possible life skills that will help them in any field they choose. The evening will also showcase projects by LPS students from Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and Technology Student Association (TSA).

In an effort to make our Liberty Public Schools e-newsletter, QuickNews (QN), a concise publication, which subscribers may read in a timely fashion, district/community announcements will be advertised in the main QuickNews section for a maximum of two weeks.  After this period of time, announcements will be transferred to our QuickNews Bulletin Board, which is located on the LPS website provided at the link below. In addition, the Bulletin Board may include announcements not meeting the criteria to be placed in this publication. The addition of the QN Bulletin Board allows them to now be publicized. This bulletin board will continuously be updated throughout the week, and announcements will remain until they expire by date.
