LHS to Host Hall of Fame Ceremony and Celebration 
Blue Jay Liberty High School is excited to announce its 2016 Hall of Fame inductees. This year, a total of eleven deserving LHS alumni will be honored into this prestigious group. The event culminates with a Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Celebration, hosted by Blue Jay Nation, taking place on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Restoration 1894, located at 1 East Kansas Street, Liberty, MO.  A reception with appetizers will be served from 6-7:30 p.m., with desserts and the induction program taking place from 7:30-9 p.m.  Reservations may be purchased for $40 each by visiting the LHS website or by clicking here.  For additional information on the event, and to view the listing of nominees and accompanying biographies, click here

LPS News to Know
Building Pride Campaign Underway 
The Building Pride Campaign kicked off earlier this month with events held at both LPS high schools.  This is a private fundraising campaign in order to fund activity complexes at Liberty High School and Liberty North High School.  The goal that has been set is to raise $4.9 million by May 31, 2017 in order to fully construct complexes at both high school sites.  There are many ways to get involved in the Building Pride Campaign, and donations are currently being accepted.  All the information you need to know is available on the Liberty School District Foundation website, or by clicking here.  Updates about the campaign will be provided periodically.
SOAR Awards Return for 3rd Year 
Do you know someone who works in Liberty Public Schools who consistently provides Service Over and Above the Rest to our students, parents, and community?  If so, you should consider nominating them to receive a SOAR Award.  Returning for a third year, this program provides us with an opportunity to recognize our employees for providing exceptional service to our students, staff, parents, and community!  Each month, Dr. Tucker and his leadership team will award several deserving staff members with SOAR Awards, which not only includes a certificate, but also a gift card made possible by the program sponsor, Commerce Bank. Nominate someone today by clicking here!

LNHS Yearbook Receives All-American Rating 
Congratulations to the 2016 Liberty North High School Yearbook. The 2017 Ayrie, with its K[NO]W LIMITS received the All-American rating from the National Scholastic Press Association, which is the highest rating that the NSPA awards. To achieve an All-American rating, a yearbook must receive 400-500 points and receive four out of five marks of distinction in five categories. The 2016 Ayrie earned 465 points and four marks of distinction in the categories of Essentials, Coverage, Writing and Editing, and Design.

LPS to Host Diversity Festival - Seeking Presenters
Liberty Public Schools is proud to be hosting a Diversity Festival celebrating many of the cultures and diversities that make up our community. We are seeking those interested in educating others regarding different aspects of your culture/diversity. If you are interested in possibly hosting a booth at this year's festival, or may know someone who is, please complete the survey that is linked by clicking here, by September 23. This year's festival will be held November 15 from 6-8 p.m. at  Liberty North High School.

Step Up For Down Syndrome Walk Set for October 1 
The annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk has been scheduled for Saturday, October 1, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Kansas Speedway.  More information may be found on their website by clicking here. Team name is Liberty Leads (click on "register", "choose team", then scroll down to find LIBERTY LEADS!).

This event is to help raise money to benefit individuals and their families in our community with Down syndrome.   For more information, contact Paula Meiners, 736-5400 ext 2368.   Ms. Meiners will be picking up all shirts and delivering them. In an effort to make our Liberty Public Schools e-newsletter, QuickNews (QN), a concise publication, which subscribers may read in a timely fashion, district/community announcements will be advertised in the main QuickNews section for a maximum of two weeks.  After this period of time, announcements will be transferred to our QuickNews Bulletin Board, which is located on the LPS website provided at the link below. In addition, the Bulletin Board may include announcements not meeting the criteria to be placed in this publication. The addition of the QN Bulletin Board allows them to now be publicized. This bulletin board will continuously be updated throughout the week, and announcements will remain until they expire by date.
