For the tribes who raised us, there is a robust and vital history here in the hills and prairies of the Northern Plains. For each of us, there is a responsibility to know and to be a part of the profound history of our people. This is reason enough for all of us to work for a remembrance of the 20th century tribal story through the lives of four honored indigenous leaders: Oscar Howe (Art), Dr. Charles Eastman (Medicine), Nicholas Black Elk (Religion & Philosophy), and Vine Deloria Jr. (Law & Policy).
