Flood Insurance Update from Alpha Insurance
The biggest change in the flood program right now, for Nov 1st , is that all
non-owner occupied 1-4 homes will incur a $250 fee. Please advise the agents to make sure their clients are submitting the form required for verification of owner occupied property. A copy of the driver's license or tax assessment and a signed form are required to prove occupancy. If the client did not do so at renewal, they can submit the documentation and get a refund of the $250 fee.

Vote YES on the Levee District Propositions
NOMAR and
MARPAC strongly support the Levee District Millage Renewal in Orleans and the Levee District Millage Increase in Jefferson Parish. Once the new flood maps are adopted in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, most policy holders will see their rates decrease thanks, in part, to the new hurricane protection system on the Westbank. Having adequate funding for ongoing maintenance and repairs to this system will help keep those flood insurance rates from increasing.

Call for Action Alert: Stop the Housing Tax for Transportation 
NAR needs your help on an important call for action. Congress is considering a proposal that would create a tax on all potential homeowners and consumers looking to purchase or refinance a mortgage. By increasing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's credit risk guarantee fees (g-fees) to fund transportation programs, Congress would disturb the housing recovery. Now is not the time to raise the cost to purchase or refinance a home.
