Please make sure you read this newsletter through so you can stay up to date at the studio! This is a great time to mark your calendars and SAVE THE DATES! I hope that our dancers continue working hard in their classes, setting and accomplishing their goals, and having FUN!

Keep Dancin', Miss Mandy

As we are in the middle of cold & flu season, we ask that families be extra vigilant with watching for signs of illness in your children, and we ask that you keep your unwell child at home, until their symptoms have subsided. As a reminder, here are some simple rules of thumb to follow:
Hand Washing Routines:
Each person entering the studio is expected to wash their hands upon entering. Hand washing practices are the most effective strategy for controlling infections and germs.
Flu-Like Symptoms:
Dancers are not permitted to attend class if they:
●     Have or have had a fever of 38 degrees or higher in the last 24 hours.
●     Experience diarrhea in the last 24 hours.
●     Experience body and muscle aches in the last 24 hours.
●     Seem over tired or drowsy.
●     Show signs of respiratory infection - cough, sneezing, sore throat, runny nose - in the last 24 hours.
Also, if your child isn't well enough to attend school, then they are not well enough to attend dance class at the studio. We know dance class is important but our dancer's well being and health is MORE IMPORTANT!

Please stay home, rest and most importantly FEEL BETTER so you can get up and dance again!

Monday, March 5th - Saturday, March 10th

All dancers come to dance class according to their Spirit Day! It's a super fun way to add some studio spirit, express your individuality and liven up those winter blahs! Remember, all dancers need to still be able to dance comfortably and safely. All spirit wear should be appropriate for dance class and should not hinder movement.
The more creative and unique with your spirit wear the better! Let's see what our dancers can do! Bring on the SPIRIT!

Monday, March 5
"Crazy Hair Day!"
We are kicking off spirit week at the studio with some wild and crazy hairstyles! The more creative and original, the better! Let's see some different and cool looking buns for Ballet and some different hair! Have fun with it!

Tuesday, March 6
"TUTU and/or TIARAS Tuesday"
We would LOVE for all of our dancers to come to class in ANY tutu and even a TIARA today!

Wednesday, March 7
"Proud EDC Dancer!"
Wear your EDC Gear or our studio colours - red and white! Come in FULL OUT studio spirit!

Thursday, March 8
"Colourful Day!"
Spring is coming and it's all about colour today! Red, Orange, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, you name it! Let's see all of the colours of the rainbow at the studio!

Friday, March 9
"Flashback Friday"
We are going to dance through the decades! An old dance costume will work great or you can come dressed as a dancer from a different decade!

Saturday, March 10
"Beach Day"
Let's celebrate the start of March Break with Beach Day at the studio! Come to class in cool, bright, summer clothes that you can dance in!

Year End Recital: Saturday, June 16, 2018 (Showtime TBA)
@ Welland Centennial Secondary School
*Our show typically starts around 10 or 11AM. The exact show time will be announced soon!

It's an annual tradition and a true crowd pleaser at every Recital! Dads, Uncles, and even Grandpas are welcome to sign up! The amazing Mrs. Joanne Bezeau is back to get our Dads into gear and ready to dance!

I'm new to EDC and wondering - What does this entail?
*Open to any EDC Dancer - it makes a fun father/daughter memory and a great way to spend time together rehearsing at the studio at home and dancing on stage for your family and friends!
*There will be a set rehearsal day and time (Sundays) that you will be expected to come in to learn the routine. Dads will also have a separate day and time (likely a Wednesday evening) for their rehearsal separate from the kids. We understand that a lot of dads have work, vacations, etc. and Miss Joanne is understanding if you are unable to make every rehearsal.
*There is also an Annual fee per participating family of $25.00 (this is payable by cash only please).
*We like our participating families to have a souvenir of their awesome dedication and time they spent together on this routine so we normally order t-shirts for everyone. There will be a separate fee at the time of order for your shirts. This will likely be what you wear on stage as well!

Please fill out the form (attached to the Recital Permission Form) and return with your payment NO LATER than March 8th to ensure your spot in the routine. We ask that all interested families also send Miss Joanne an email to inform her of your participation, she will be keeping in touch throughout the upcoming months regarding rehearsals, etc. through email.

Miss Joanne:

One of our EDC Dance Dads, Demitri Psiloyenis (Lillia's Dad) is an annual participant in the Ontario Ride to Conquer Cancer Event. I wanted to share his story and information on how you can help by donating!

I am participating in the Ontario Ride To Conquer Cancer and in order to be eligible to participate in this event each rider must fundraise $2500 and whilst this is slightly difficult it's well worth it! If you or someone you know would like to support this cause you may do so using my signature link or the URL link below.
A little background on the Team I ride with, Steve's Cycle Paths , we are the largest team in the ride year after year and bring in the most fundraising dollars each year. In 2017 there were 5000 riders and $19 Million in donations total. Steve's Cycle Path's 300 riders brought in over $1 Million. We are a very determined team and focus on fundraising to support the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. As a supporter you're welcome to join us in the event at our Tent on both days of the weekends events (June 9th & 10th). If you would like to participate or know anyone whom would we're happy to have you join our team as well!
If you have any questions about this please let me know. Thank you!!
