Maryland Women's Business Center's StartRight! Women's Business Plan Competition is under way as 11 Semi-Finalists were named for 2017's competition.

The Semi-Finalists are:

Later this month these semi finalists will create video sales pitches that will be available to view and be VOTED on by the public at MarylandWBC.org.  On Wednesday, the 16th, they will present their pitches live to a panel of judges with the finalists  to be decided then.

 

Winners will be announced at this year's Power Conference on September 7th.  You can find out more about that event here.

Montgomery Hospice Fundraiser
On August 10th and 11th Montgomery Hospice will be hosting a fundraiser--the Red,Hot & Blue Give Back fundraiser.
Simply download the flyer and 15% of your purchase will go toward the Hospice Cup annual sailing regatta event.  That event raises funds for regional hospices, including Rockville's own Montgomery Hospice.

Montgomery Hospice is a non-profit hospice that works with local  professionals and volunteers to provide quality end-of-life care.

Free Movies...in the Parks!

Rockville's free outdoor "Movies in the Parks" on the big screen return to neighborhood parks throughout the city on Wednesdays in August.

Bring chairs, blankets, food and beverages and enjoy four family-friendly movies at four different neighborhood parks. Movies begin at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.) and are free.

The schedule is:
  • "Toy Story" (Rated G) on Aug. 2 at Montrose Park, 451 Congressional Lane.
  • "Sing" (PG) on Aug. 9 at Fallsgrove Park, 700 Fallsgrove Drive.
  • "The Sandlot" (PG) on Aug. 16 at Woodley Gardens Park, 900 Nelson St.
  • "Zootopia" (PG) on Aug. 23 at Calvin Park, 1248 Gladstone Drive.

LAC Federal has won a contract from the Library of Congress Music Division to archive an historic music collection including  more than 18,000 boxes of copyrighted music, scripts and other written material, such as  Bob Hope's  joke portfolio.

Lurn Inc. Signs 10-Year Deal for 24,600 SF at 2098 Gaither Road
Landlord represented by  Bob Dickman, Bob Wrightston & Brian McCarthy  of  Avison Young
Moving from a co-working space into their own facility,  Lurn Inc., is filling half of the building formerly occupied by the FDA until late 2015.  When completed later this year, Lurn's office will feature classroom space for on-site training and production capabilities for their online platforms.
