Manager's Choice:

Multicultural is key for global organization Manager's Choice

How much do they reproduce their origin's culture? Should not we see emergence of a multicultural or global streotype? Wht's your view?

A world traveler who speaks ten languages, British linguist Richard Lewis decided he was qualified to plot the world's cultures on a chart.

He did so while acknowledging the dangers of stereotypes.

"Determining national characteristics is treading a minefield of inaccurate assessment and surprising exception," Lewis wrote. "There is, however, such a thing as a national norm." First published in 1996 was called "an authoritative roadmap to navigating the world's economy," by the Wall Street Journal.

Defeat of English-only amendment celebrated on 5-year anniversary
Mayor Karl Dean, Nashville 4 All of Us coalition members, Nashville Chamber of Commerce, gather with the community to celebrate at Casa Azafrn

"Today is a day worth celebrating," Mayor Dean said. "It's a day that set the course for much of the success our city is enjoying today. Just stop and think for a moment what Nashville would be like today if the vote had gone the other way. I spent a lot of time in 2013 bragging about national headlines and rankings - we were named the newest "it" city, one of the best places in the world to visit, we came in first in the nation for job growth. Would any of those things - or even one of them - have been possible if our city had decided to accept English Only as our fate?"

NAHCC Board Chair, Loraine Segovia-Paz comments on the most recent issue of The Contributor newspaper, in a front page article: "Members of Nashville's Hispanic community looks back to the fifth anniversary of the defeat of the 'English Only' bill. Page 1 " More HERE
