Wine Selection: Haywire Haywire Pink Bub 2017
I picked this wine because I love to make and drink bubbles, and these ones are pink!   A great start to any celebration, the Pink Bub is juicy and lively with notes of raspberry, strawberry and lime. Pair with breakfast, lunch, dinner and a movie. I make 100 cases of this limited release bubbly every year and it always sells out quickly. I made this wine using Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes that we harvested in late August. The fruit comes from Secrest Mountain Vineyard in Oliver and Watkins Family Vineyard in Summerland. I added a red wine dosage after the secondary fermentation was complete, this adds the beautiful pink hue and delicious berry flavours.

Wine Selection: Haywire Switchback Organic Vinyard Pinot Gris 2016
Switchback Vineyard is a place that is very close to my heart. My mom, Christine and stepdad, Steve bought the property on a whim. It has been amazing to see the transformation over the past decade. Memories in the vineyard include - planting and harvesting with friends and family, motoring through the rows in a golf cart with a few kids and dogs in tow, and being forced to work through a lightening storm (MOM!). Since we started our transition from traditional to organic farming the vineyard has been transformed to a place that is full of life. On any given day you will see: frolicking dogs, chickens, ducks, bug hotels, a beehive and the occasional sheep. The wine is made to be the purest possible expression of this special place. But don’t just take my word for it - you will have to taste it for yourself!

Wine Selection: House of Margot 2016
Like me, Margot Baloro, the master mind behind the wine program at The Listel Hotel Vancouver, is a big fan of Pinot Blanc. This made the process of creating a wine for her very simple, with the results: simply delicious. We started with grapes grown at Secrest Mountain Vineyard which went into concrete tank for fermentation and aging. The finished wine displays lively intense aromatics of pineapple and melon. There is a touch of herbaceous which is “so” Okanagan. Fish, cream pasta, or pasta with grilled vegetables or quiche are great pairings. Oh, and the wine is made from organically grown grapes and is vegan friendly. Like Margot, there is a lot to like about this wine. This wine is an exclusive offer for club members.

Wine Selection: Jill Spoor White Terroir Blend 2016
An expression of the Okanagan Valley made from Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Wine is a sensual experience and my vision for this wine was to capture that essence. For me, it metaphorically embodies the energy of women: Alluringly beautiful, yet complex and strong. I dedicate this to the most inspiring woman of my life, my mother Shirley. A lover of wine herself, she was responsible for introducing me to white wine, in the form of a ‘spritzer’ on a warm summer’s day. That was the first of many glasses we would share together. To all women, believe in yourself and your dreams, too, can come true. This wine is an exclusive offer for club members. Jill was an OCP Harvest Intern in 2016.

Wine Selection: Haywire Gamay Noir 2016
I fell in love with Gamay when I was 19 years old living in the Mediterranean – that wine and those sunsets. Sigh. Haywire Gamay Noir is my favourite version of this grape, showcasing the terroir of the vineyard, our cool climate region and dry desert-like summers. Gentle on tannins and full of ripe strawberry, raspberry and spice notes. This wine has an incredible creamy texture that comes from spending time in concrete tanks. Pop this wine in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving – the slight chill really makes the aromas pop. This a very food friendly wine – you should try it with everything! In particular with cheese and charcuterie, chicken and dumplings, planked salmon, and veggie dishes. But what I really love about it is that it is also great all on its own, anytime of the year. That finish, though! It lingers beautifully.

Wine Selection: Narrative Syrah 2016
I heart Syrah! Like me, Syrah has been transplanted from another country into the Okanagan Valley and being an Aussie, Syrah is near and dear to me. One of the oldest planted varieties in the world, it can be produced in cool and hot climates and yet deliver a true sense of place from these sites around the globe. Our Narrative Syrah is organically grown and sourced from the south end of the valley. I particularly like the savoury qualities on the nose of fennel, sage, peppercorns and a hint of candied red fruit. This wine stands out from the ‘norm’ with a fresh, clean mouthfeel and balanced tannin, which showcases the lively red berry fruits. This versatile Syrah goes well with charcuterie, mushroom risotto, roast duck or a delicious steak from the BBQ. 
The club price of this shipment is $147.25, including tax and deposit.
