Just a quick reminder about this Saturday's annual trip to run the Blue Bell 10K and 5K in Brenham, TX. This year's race will start at 8:30 AM.
Several of you have signed up and are going to carpool with us out to Brenham, Texas for the Blue Bell 10K and 5K. I have emails from Betty, Jess, Joann & John, Joan, Karen & Fred, Keith, Nancy, Ange, and Kelly & Stan. A few of you are going out the night before, and some are leaving with us on Saturday morning for the carpool.
If you haven't emailed me at all, but you're going to meet us to carpool on Saturday morning to Brenham, shoot me a quick email to let me know you're meeting us for the carpool.
I am aware that Joann & John, Stan & Kelly and Jess are all going out the night before. If you've already confirmed you're going, but you're not meeting us to carpool, please let me know you're not meeting us (except for these 5 people I already know about).
Just in case you haven't signed up, but you want to, there will be on-site race morning registration available. So come on and join us!
Packet pickup (and late registration) is available on the morning of arrival from 6:45am until 8:00am.
TO GET THERE, we're planning to CARPOOL to drive out together, leaving at 5:45 AM (that means we'll need to MEET a few minutes before that -- at 5:35-5:40 AM). The race check-in is from 6:45 AM to 8:00 AM, and the race starts at 8:30 AM, and it is a 92 mile drive to Brenham. That would put us there right around 7:15 AM. Most of us have to pick up our race packets, so the 7:15 AM arrival time gives us time to do that, time to stretch, and time to get to the starting line.
The meeting place will be in the parking lot of the restaurant called Texas Land & Cattle Company, located on the northbound service road of I-35 just south of US 290. The address is 6007 N. I-35. If you are going to be late, or if you need additional directions, my cell phone is 796-5297.
As far as returning to Austin after eating your fill of post-race Blue Bell ice cream, most (if not all) of the cars will be returning immediately following the race, while a few others may hang around the charming town of Brenham for lunch, shopping at the gift shop at the Blue Bell Creamery (and viewing the virtual tour movie there, since the REAL tour is STILL not running on the Saturday of the Blue Bell 10K race, despite our protests over the past few years), shopping at other quaint local shops, taking-in local museums, posing for pictures in the gorgeous blue-bonnets, and other sight-seeing. So whether you need to get back to Austin ASAP, or have time to hang around, there should be cars in the carpool to accommodate you.
