Illinois
We look forward to welcoming five trainers from New York, Nevada and Michigan who are traveling to Chicago for a REST Master Training on March ­­­7-8, in Addison.  Click here to learn more about becoming a Master Trainer. 
 
REST will present on the benefits of respite training on March 15, during the Illinois Senior Corps conference in Springfield. Learn more about Senior Corps here.
 
Lisle-based Respite Endowment Organization has begun offering a three-hour drop-off respite program for families of children with special needs and their siblings, on the third Sunday of the month, at the Alive Center in Naperville. 
 
New York
Congratulations to the 18 new individuals who completed the REST train-the-trainer course last month in Syracuse and East Hills through the New York State Caregiving and Respite Coalition (NYSCRC).
 
NYSCRC has Train-the-Trainer classes scheduled for March 15-16 , at New York University Langone Family Support Program; April 1-2, at Kendal at Ithaca, and April 18-19, at Russell Barnard Senior Housing, Plattsburgh.  Click here for details.

Michigan
Fifteen individuals completed REST Companion courses on Feb. 7 and 16 , through the Upper Peninsula Area Agency on Aging (UPCAP). Click here to see a WLUC TV 6 news clip from the Feb. 7 class. 
 
Nine individuals from the Volunteer Respite Program and In-Home Services Program of the Monroe County Opportunity Program completed a REST Companion training course on Feb. 3.
 
A Companion course took place on March 2 through the Interfaith Volunteer Caregiving Program in Auburn Hills.  Click here to learn more. 
 
The Upper Peninsula Area Agency on Aging (UPCAP) has a REST train-the-trainer course scheduled for May 23-24.  To learn more, visit:  www.upcap.org
 
Massachusetts
A Train-the-Trainer course will take place March 29-30, in Worcester.  Click here for details. 
Nevada
Seven REST Companions were trained on Feb. 21 , in Reno, through the Nevada Geriatric Education Center
East Valley Family Services, Las Vegas , held a REST Companion course in late January, training 16 individuals to provide respite care throughout the surrounding community.
Legacy Home Care, Las Vegas , continues to use the REST Companion course to train employees, who provide a wide range of non-medical home services, including respite care.
Minnesota
Wellspring Faith in Action, St. James , will hold a REST Companion course on March 8.
 
A REST Companion course will take place on March 25 , at Lao Senior Quality of Life, Minneapolis.
 
Living at Home/Block Nurse Program (LAH/BNP), Granite Falls, will hold a REST Companion course this month.   LAH/BNP assists individuals age 60 and older, and those with disabilities, to remain safe and independent in their homes and communities.  The program also recognizes the capability of local neighborhoods and communities to integrate the social and in-home services needed and make them more easily accessible.
Kansas
Nine individuals completed a REST Companion course on Feb. 23 , through the Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging and the Fort Hays State University Senior Companion Program . The course prepared participants to provide quality respite to caregivers and care receivers by learning about communication skills, general care techniques and more.
A Companion course will take place on April 23 , at Salina Family Healthcare Center , Salina.
Arkansas
REST Trainers have scheduled a REST Companion course for April 26 ,at South Arkansas Center on Aging, El Dorado. See details here .

A Train-the-Trainer course will take place on May 17-18 in Modesto.
