In the midst of reading several books a month, I’ve been reading the same book for over a year! I’m simply taking my time reading The Fifties, by David Halberstam. I’m somewhere on page 800 or so. It is such a good read!
I began reading the book because many experts believe the 1950s was the golden age of the church. The decline we are experiencing today did not begin until in 1965. Halberstam provides the cultural context that became the seedbed for the denominational expansion of the Presbyterian church. Click here to continue reading

Curby Memorial, Pastor, Paula V. Cooper, has accepted a call to Zambia, Africa to equip village leaders to serve as lay-pastors. She is resigning as our pastor effective May 31, 2017. She will lead her last worship service and preach her last sermon at Curby on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. To help us celebrate her 3+ years with us we are having a reception and light lunch following the service.
