OVERTIME RULE PUT ON HOLD
On Tuesday November 22, 2016, U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant of the Eastern District of Texas
granted 21 states' preliminary injunction to
stop (or at least delay) the DOL from
implementing the new overtime rule that would have expanded overtime protections to more than 4 million
employees nationwide.
The preliminary injunction preserves the status quo of keeping the old rule in place, while the
court can now fully determine the final rule's validity, as well as the DOL's authority to promulgate
the final rule.

Infectious Disease Management
Cold and flu season is unfortunately upon us. If you have not already established a written protocol for infectious disease prevention, a
nd provided training to your employees, it is not too late!
RHA's white paper and sample policies can help you get there, including a newly added Infectious Disease Sample SOP.
The member who kindly agreed to share their policy experienced the challenges of a Norovirus outbreak, and has generously shared this information to assist other members in preventing such an occurrence.
Did You Know?
- Only 31% of men and 65% of women wash their hands after using the toilet
- Only about 5% of people actually wash their hands for the CDC-recommended 20 seconds or more (about the amount of time it takes to sing the "Happy Birthday" song)
- Proper handwashing is the easiest way to stop the spread of germs
- Alcohol based sanitizers can be used in addition to, but should not be used as a substitute for handwashing
