A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Welcome to International Week

The 73 brightly-colored flags representing the heritages of all our students and faculty will be flying resplendently on the lawn tomorrow.

It's International Week at RHP and Renaissance!

Your part as parents comes on Friday. We ask each and every family to contribute a lunch dish that represents their family heritage. The sign-up document to let us know what you are bringing is here.  Volunteers on the day are also much appreciated, to support 9 th grade parents who lead the event. Please drop off your contribution beginning first thing on Friday morning per the instructions. This fabulous multi-cultural feast works only if each family makes a culinary contribution.

And we invite you to join us after lunch on Friday for our multicutural performing arts presentation in the MPR.

We live in the most multi-cultural country in the world, one in which the vast majority of citizens strive to appreciate and respond to others based on their actions and their character and not on their religion, sex, disability, or skin color. Of course we still have a way to go to perfect this effort, but, especially given the relatively short history of the country, we are way ahead of almost every other nation on Earth.

We are trying hard to educate the students at our two schools to understand and appreciate the world outside of the South Bay. You will be aware by now of the three Global Education trips we are offering this year, to China, Costa Rica, and Cuba.

Success and fulfillment in a global 21st century is how we describe the hoped-for fruit of these efforts in our mission statement. And three years ago, spurred on by an active faculty committee, the Board of Trustees formalized a Diversity Statement, which reads as follows:

At RHP and Renaissance, diversity is defined as a culture that consistently explores, embraces, and celebrates individual differences and backgrounds inside and outside the classroom and in our everyday lives. In an inclusive and diverse community all members feel respected, safe, and accepted in expressing who they are. Our four pillars promote multicultural perspectives through a 21 st century curriculum which prepares students to work, lead, and live effectively in a diverse world.

Diversity includes individual and group differences in areas such as race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, gender, age, sexuality, religion, learning styles and physical abilities.

See you on Friday for lunch. And, don't worry, the very best of British cuisine will be available at lunch as part of the celebration!

Senior Speech: Jackson Markgraf

When I was 13 years old I moved to Milan, Italy. My dad got a job offer and decided to accept it for the experience my family would have. However I didn't know what an experience it would turn out to be.  Read More

Senior Speech: Kotaro Ueoka

Our time together here on Earth is limited and nothing lasts forever.  Knowing that unavoidable truthis the scariest thing for me and somehow you have been selfless enough to hide that from me.  As I've grown older I worry less about my time after life and more about what I can get accomplished while I'm still here.  Read More
