BOOK IT FOR BOOKS RACE DAY IN PICTURES!!!
What a grand day for a run for books for needy kids!
Thanks to all our participants and donors!
Ready, set...
...and they're off!
Jackson leads the way
The 1-mile fun runners and walkers were led by three year-old Jackson Woodward.  He happily played the dragon from his favorite book: How Do Dinosaurs Say Happy Birthday ?
From the cheering squad:  Come on, Dad, GO!  You can do it!
It was a day for families as Ningrum Spicer and twin sons Adam and Aiden sprinted to the finish line!
The Spicer family (including dad Phil) gets photo bombed by the day's super special guest!  (That Clifford was such a HAM!)
  And the winner is....
Top female runner Maureen McLaughlin (l) and top male runner Matt Berrey catch their breath with RIF of NOVA co-president Nancy King.
5K boy and girl winner
Top boy runner Aiden Spicer and top girl runner Jessica Lee.  Whoo hoo!  Off to Barnes and Noble to pick out a new book or two!
It takes a village...of dedicated board members and volunteers!  Thanks to all!
(l-r) Board members Dora Sue Black, Hazeline Harris, and Jeuli Bartenstein get the goodies ready from Trader Joe's, Wegmans, the Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, and the Great Harvest Bread Company.  Yum!!!!
(l-r) Race co-coordinator Stephanie Berry and board members Pam Jackson, Nadine James, and Chris McLaughlin oversee volunteer registration, with a little help from a stuffed friend!
Clifford, Waldo, Cat, and Dorothy..."character" witnesses to a great day!  (Okay, if you must know, they are volunteer Jack Hilger from Madison High School and board members Lisa Keathley, Dora Sue Black, and Barbara Bankert.)
(l-r) Board member Sheila Jonas, race co-coordinator Mia Mason, and board members Jeuli Bartenstein, JJ Johnson, Lisa Keathley (Waldo), Chris McLaughlin, and Emma Williams enjoy an end-of-race cheer!
Volunteers from Madison High School...
They got service hours...
...and Chantilly High School.
..and we got their great enthusiasm and hard work!
A special shout-out to two of our RIF of NOVA schools...
A group of almost thirty teachers, students, and staff from Lynbrook Elementary School in Springfield (Fairfax County) signed up for the event.  How delightful to have had their participation and support.  Yay to all the little ones they brought along to enjoy the ride!
Students and staff from Marumsco Hills Elementary School in Woodbridge (Prince William County) wrote thank you notes to all race runners and sponsors.  Almost 300 of them!  That's a WOW!!!!
Once again...a great big thank you to our sponsors!!!
