Solar Choice 2 Update - About 100 Spots Remaining

RMLD's Solar Choice Program allows customers who want to support clean energy but aren't able or don't wish to install solar panels on their own home or business the opportunity to share in a large solar system installed within RMLD's service area.  Participating customers pay a monthly fee for costs associated with the program. Starting in the second year, participants are expected to begin receiving credits, with net credits estimated to be as much as $300 over a ten-year period!

RMLD also recently introduced a Solar Choice Business offering for commercial, industrial, and municipal customers. Click here to learn more.

RMLD's second community solar array is about 85% full with approximately 100 spots remaining. The project was powered at the beginning of February.
RMLD Awarded $1M Grant for Energy Storage Project
In December, RMLD was awarded a $1 million grant for the installation of an energy storage unit to support "shredding the peak." The  project consists of installing a 5-megawatt Lithium Ion Battery unit at RMLD's North  Reading  substation. The unit, which will be co-located with the newly installed 2.5-megawatt Distributed Generator,  will be used to reduce usage during peak times when electricity is most expensive.

On December 20, 2017, state and local officials joined RMLD Commission members and staff to commemorate the grant award.
