In Brief: May-June 2018
RMLD Drives Electric
Electric vehicles (EVs) have been getting a lot of attention lately, and for good reason: EVs are proven to offer significant environmental benefits and reduced fuel costs.

RMLD recently added a 100% electric Chevy Bolt to its fleet of vehicles to reduce emissions and save on fuel.

With the help of a state grant, RMLD also installed a public EV charging station alongside its main office at 230 Ash Street. The station is available to any EV driver who uses the ChargePoint network/app. The availability of a charging station at RMLD increases the accessibility and ease of EV charging, reduces barriers to EV adoption, and provides revenue to the RMLD.

RMLD's Community Shared Solar Program, Solar Choice , allows customers to participate in a large shared solar array in RMLD's service area.

RMLD Honors Local High School Students Following Art Contest
This spring, RMLD held its second annual public power themed student art contest for area high school students. On May 2nd, RMLD honored participating students at an awards ceremony.

Five winners were selected based on the creativity of the artwork and the message that was portrayed:

  • Laura Buscemi, North Reading
  • Jesse Ding, Wilmington

It's Almost Time to Shred the Peak
Each summer, RMLD launches its Shred the Peak campaign to educate customers about the impact of peak demand on wholesale electricity costs and in turn, customer's electric bills.

Peak demand is the one hour during the year when the most electricity is used in our region. Peak demand typically occurs on a hot weekday afternoon from June to August between the hours of 2pm and 7pm. By conserving during predicted peaks, you can help RMLD reduce costs and keep your electric bill low!

Click here to learn more, and be on the lookout for additional information in the coming weeks as we get ready to Shred the Peak!
