Buffalo Creek Park in Lake Lure is now officially re-opened and restored to her original state from the damage associated with the Party Rock Fire last November. The repairs were completed ahead of schedule and under budget thanks to the great work of Trail Dynamics, who originallybuilt the trail back in 2012/2013.
Dana Bradley will be leading this program and the training sessions will be held on Monday's and Wednesday's at 5:30 pm at the Forest City-Dunbar track located on Education Avenue in Forest City (Coordinates 35.345337, -81.876100).

South Mountains Game Lands Hike
Sunday, February 26 - 9:00 am
This is approximately a
5 mile, moderate to strenuous hike due to some off trail hiking and fairly difficult creek crossings. We have had large groups on this route with people of all ages and with no trouble.
We will meet at the Rutherfordton Annex (289 N. Main Street, Rutherfordton) at 9:00am.
There will be a secondary meeting on Roper Hollow Rd. off of Hwy 64 at 9:45am.
It was a brisk hike on the afternoon of Feb 3rd as we hiked the Trombatore Trail. The hike was approx. 6 miles round trip. This is an easy to moderate trail with a nice viewpoint at the end.
On February 7th, ROC continued to keep the ICC trails looking great! We are also preparing for signage updates to the trail that will be installed this spring.
We need people like you to become trail bosses and river stewards for our local trails and river system.
Trail Bosses walk their section of trail at least once a month, report any issues they see, and help keep their section clean.
River Stewards float their river section once a month and report downed trees and other obstacles that need to be addressed. There is a River Stewards meeting held on the 2nd Thursday of each month to discuss river improvements and plan future clean-ups.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a trail boss or river steward, contact Hallie Zeedik at [email protected] or call (828) 625-9983 ext. 505.
